Now is the time, if you are not already, to join the VCDL.

Far too many Virginian friends and neighbors of mine say they are pro gun, gun owners, gun lovers, gun defenders and won’t take the time to pay $25 a year.

VCDL is the only thing standing between you (and 40+ states behind us) and the slide towards NJ/NY style gun laws.

Please do not turn this into a thread complaining about Northam, his college history, how VA is already NJ NY or any of that. This thread is Join Or Die the fight for gun rights, not a whine fest.

Proud VCDL member here, joined this year, they do good work, and their email alerts are great at keeping members up-to-date on current issues.

The Chantilly Nation's Gun Show is this coming weekend. VCDL always has recruiting tables there. This might be a great opportunity to meet and greet them in person. Sign up if you haven't already.

I haven’t felt like this since I was in NJ post sandy hook and hand wrote all these letters to my reps. At the time I think I had been a gun owner for all of about 6 months.

Here’s the most recent email from VCDL. I just got my first Aid CPR instructor in class today to sign up, let’s go folks:

Governor Northam and the Democrat Leadership has
Declared War on Gun Owners

Rather than letting the Virginia Beach community continue to mourn and heal, the Governor, Lt. Governor, and the Attorney General are rushing to dance in the blood of the Virginia Beach massacre victims in order to draw attention away from their recent scandals. This is purely a political stunt and they are using our right to self-defense as their sacrificial lamb.

The Governor is calling the General Assembly into a special session around the end of June to do nothing but pass more useless gun-control. Gun control that would affect you and me, but has no correlation to anything the murderer did or had, and wouldn't have saved a single life in Virginia Beach.

The Governor and Democrat leadership see this as a chance to payback Michael Bloomberg for his large donations to Democrat campaigns by passing Bloomberg's gun-control wish list:
Red Flag laws - forget the unconstitutionality of this law, no one thought the Virginia Beach murderer to be a threat, so that law would have changed nothing
Universal Background Checks - the Virginia Beach murderer passed at least two background checks, just like the Virginia Tech murderer. And street thugs don't go through background checks to get their guns
"Assault Weapon" ban - no "assault weapons" were used in the Virginia Beach massacre. Long guns are rarely ever used in crime
Magazine-capacity limits - the commission on the Virginia Tech massacre concluded that restricting magazine size would not have changed the outcome
Silencer/suppressor ban - it is extremely rare that a lawfully owned suppressor is used in a crime. They are not popular with criminals because 1) the gun shot is still loud and 2) it doubles the length of a handgun, making it much more difficult to conceal
Bump-stock ban - bump stocks have only been used in one crime, out in Nevada and there is no evidence that it increased the number of injuries or fatalities.
Allow local government to implement gun control (get rid of firearm pre-emption law) - the Virginia Beach government building was already a "gun-free zone." What are they going to do, make it a double-gun-free-zone? This would make gun laws in Virginia extremely hard to comply with, benefiting criminals, who don't care about laws, and dissuading good people due to the complexities of carrying legally as they travel through the state

Not a single one of these proposed gun-control laws would have saved anyone in Virginia Beach.

But this is not about saving lives, it is about political theater.

WOULD ANYTHING HAVE SAVED LIVES IN THE VIRGINIA BEACH MASSACRE?

YES! Letting local and state government employees with concealed handgun permits carry concealed at work.

It is a basic human-right to be able to defend yourself! Neither the government, or anyone else, should be able to tell you that you must die as a helpless victim of a violent attack. We must put an end to gun-free zones!

VCDL IS TREATING THIS AS A SERIOUS THREAT AND YOU HAD BEST BE DOING SO, TOO

This will be an all-hands-on-deck fight, including as big a turnout as we can get when these gun bills are heard in the General Assembly. Please be ready to respond to any LEGISLATIVE ACTION ITEMS as they occur.

There is some serious dirty-tricks that can happen during such a special session that wouldn't bode well for gun owners or our freedoms. VCDL will be closely monitoring the session accordingly.

The Governor wants citizens to be contacting their legislators on this matter AND WE WILL! We will have an email and call-in campaign at the appropriate time.

VCDL'S BOTTOM LINE: NO MORE GUN CONTROL - NONE! NO MORE "GUN-FREE ZONES" - NONE!

VA-ALERT: Breaking! Special General Assembly Session on guns starts July 9th!

We have just learned that the special General Assembly session is set for Tuesday, July 9th!

There is no set number of days the session will run. That will be up to the General Assembly leadership.

With a start date set, VCDL can now begin making detailed plans.

Please be prepared to respond to calls for action on VA-ALERT from now until the end of the session.

If you can get some flexible time off to come to Richmond during the week of July 9th, that would be great!

We will need to FLOOD committees and subcommittees rooms. This is where the rubber meets the road.

Future alerts will have various calls to action. All gun owners and concerned citizens need to stand should-to-shoulder to make sure our rights, and the rights of generations unborn, are protected. We need to fight this push for gun control as if our lives depend on it, because in the end, they do.

To my Chesapeake brothers, - we must hit Louise Lucas, and Lionel Spruil hard. Both are anti gun an need to understand we will work to put them out if they dont do better.

Vote in primaries today folks!!!!
Why? All the candidates running in my area are antigun, and the results are a foregone conclusion anyway. (That's the difference between NoVa and some other parts of the state. The statewide offices are not up this time.)

Newest email. Funds committed!

Recently, Red Flag laws, also called Gun Violence Restraining Orders and Extreme Risk Protection Orders, are being pushed hard at both the state and federal levels. While being sold as "gun-violence prevention" measures, these schemes are really gun confiscation laws and have little to do with "violence prevention".

This is a serious threat to our freedoms, and so VCDL has now committed over $40,000 on a multi-media ad campaignaimed at educating gun owners and the general public on the dangers to our constitutional protections presented by Red Flag laws.

Part 1 of the campaign consists of multi-month advertising in NoVA, Fredericksburg, Richmond, Tidewater, and Roanoke on:
  • streaming radio stations, including talk radio and music stations
  • internet websites that contain ads on their pages and
  • directed email
The target audience is anyone over 18-years-old. Those wanting more information are sent to: http://vcdl.org/RedFlag

Part 2 of the campaign consists of regular radio ads running on two radio stations in central Virginia: WHAP (1340 AM and 96.9 FM) and WSVS (800 AM and 97.1 FM).

Part 3 of the campaign is a mailing to current and recent VCDL members. The mailing includes the newsletter and four full-color Red Flag/Universal Background Check flyers to be given out to friends, family, co-workers, and posted on bulletin boards.

If you wish to help VCDL offset the cost of this campaign, you can contribute here - thanks!
