Ruger single six value

Value of the Single Sx is always high. Without the 22WMR cylinder I wouldn't give more than $300 for the gun. I bought my Six 3 years ago for $350. It is a 5.5 blued model. It is in excellent condition and came with the WMR cylinder. The main reason I bought it was because it is a 1976 Bicentennial model.
But you pay what you feel it is worth.

I don't know about you but in 1972 I was 15 years old and worked in my dads machine shop for $4.50 an hour. After taxes were taken out it would have taken around 19-20 hours of work time to have bought that gun. According to the inflation calculator $79.00 then works out to $484.00 today. $79.00 sounds like a bargain now but in reality it was just the same price we pay now.

OP I like your new gun. I think you did great.
$4.50 an hour in 72? Hell minimum wage didnt hit that rate till the 90's.

Yes but my dad only provided food, shelter and clothes. All my toys like guitars, motorcycles and the endless supply of parts they needed and fishing equipment was all on me including half ownership in our fishing boat. My dad said I could have anything I wanted as long as I paid for it. So I did. And I made all my car and insurance payments including the down payment. My dad would help me to get it but I picked up the tab. It taught me good lessons and I didn't just blow my money. None of my friends had cash on hand like I did. I had a bank account for checks and kept around $600 in cash in a bandaid can in my dresser drawer.

79 dollars is what I payed for my Ruger Single Six convertible in 1972. Sill own it today. hdbiker

My first Single Six cost around $100 brand-new in 1980 or so. Around the year 2000 I gave it to my seriously ill BiL as a gift. It had a 5.5" barrel, blued finish, and was very accurate.

A few years ago I happened upon a 6.5" version from the same time period that was missing the cylinder release button and had some serious finish issues. I only had to pay $120-something for it. I replaced the button and spring, cold-blued the bad steel parts, and have been very pleased with it as a shooter.
