I have a long side Colt 1911 in 460 Rowland (yes, it IS that cool!).

I fantasize using it walking somewhere there is larger wildlife, may/may not happen. But I would like to have a good holster. Perhaps in the other side a couple mags. I’d also like to be able to wear my daypack so I can be hiking/fishing. Although truth be told I’ll wear it mostly when I’m in the hills around here shooting and look real cool.

Have no idea of where to start in this search. Any manufacturers you recommend?

Thanks,
Greg

JTQ. Please forgive me. I should have said thank you earlier for your help.

There are some good options.

Thanks,

Galco VHS may work. VHS = vertical holster system. I don't think Galco's Miami Classic or any other horizontal shoulder holster would be a good fit. I have a MCII for my 5" bbl GM and it works for me, but I am a THICK guy.

Or one of the "tanker" holsters made by El Paso Saddlery, though they do not have built-in mag carriers.

And you may be able to swing a belt holster depending on your daypack. My old large ALICE rucksack sits high and I can wear a belt holster without interference from the pack..
