2204D917-5A74-4AEE-AAED-C8D54E9642F7.jpeg I’ve been wanting a SIG for quite a while, and my wheeling and dealing never panned out when trying to trade for one. Finally broke down and bought one at a gun show last weekend with some money from a prior sale. I was initially looking for a P229 but found this P239 for a price I couldn’t pass up. 9mm Scorpion that looks to have been unfired for $600. I’d never handled one before and found it fits my short fingered hands better than the double stack 229. Really liking the G10 grips on it as well.

I handled some 229’s with the E2 grips and agree they fit me a lot better. The dealers were all wanting well north of $700 for them though and those weren’t in very good condition finish wise either. I’ll get one at some point I’m sure. If I hadn’t found the 239 I was going to order one of the cheap police turn in 229 40’s online, but really wanted to physically see and handle one to buy instead of ordering sight unseen. I think I’m going to like this one, put a few quick magazines through it when I got home just to try it out.

My only Sig is a 239 also. I put Hogue grips on it and like it a lot. I bought it with the .40 barrel and then got a .357 Sig barrel. I had to bring it to the LGS to get the front sight moved/adjusted but that was it.
$600 sounds like a good deal to me. I paid a bit more than $700 for mine during the pre-Hillary rush.

I'm a big fan of the 239. I started with the 228 so I have an affinity for the double stack, but the 239 is a great gun. I have one of the LE trade in .40 cals which are a great deal when you can find them (if you're open to .40 or swapping barrels/mags). I think mine was about $425.

Note that the 239 has been discontinued by Sig, so you may want to stock up on extras. A good thing about the 9mm is that the 239 and the current production 225 A1 mags are identical except for the baseplate, so you have a better chance of finding affordable mags than those of us with .40/.357 Sig 239s.

Just bought two magazines online for $35 each, so not too bad I don’t think. Probably pick up more occasionally, I did read that about the 225a1 being compatible so that’s good. Springs should be available in the future I hope so hopefully I won’t have too many worries about parts in the future. For those of you who carry it do you have any recommendations on IWB holster? I’ve been eyeballing the Galco Summer Carry.

Welcome to the dark side ...

My wife is the new owner of my P239 SAS Gen 2 .40 Cal. But back when it was mine, I carried it in an IWB holster from Crossbreed, with the horse hide backer. Very comfortable.

Great carry gun. Enough capacity, easy to shoot, small enough to easily conceal with minimal effort.

Thats a sharp P239!

Strangely, the 239 was my first as well, and the only Sig Ive ever hated. But then it was a .40 and the recoil was brutal. It was also the only Sig Ive ever had that would rattle when you shook it......:confused:

I paid more than $750 for my P239 back in 2008. It rattled so bad, but it did shoot good! When I was done with it, sold it for $600 and bought a brand new Glock 26 for $500. ( My carry piece still today. ) Not bashing the Sig...they definitely hold their value. I would buy another if they still made them.

I have a Sig P239 SAS Gen2 and a Sig P6 and I really like both of these. I have around $900 total invested in both of these, considering the 4 extra P6 magazines I bought when I came across them (I now have 7).

I carried a 239 for about 6 years. Last year my son graduated from college with an engineering degree and he loved the 239 so I gave it to him as a graduation present. I loved the 239 but could never find a leather, outside the waistband, vertical draw (no cant) holster made for that gun. I got by using a Galco Avenger designed for a different gun. I was going to buy another one for me but then Sig dropped it from their line. How long will they stock spare parts? I've looked at the 225-A1 but haven't committed yet. Unfortunately it looks like Sig will be discontinuing the 225-A1 soon to.

Where can I find the LE trade in .40 Sig 228?

And Jeff H... I know exactly what you mean by them multiplying in the safe. It's like you're stocking It then one day realize there's more Sigs than any other thing in there!

Sorry, I misread your post (eyes) but here are some links for used LE p226's, perhaps you can try them.
