You guys may have read some posts I have made about the ATI 1911 Commander I bought for $319 delivered to the local FFL. I love this gun. I have spent some money on G10 grips, ambi safety, inexpensive red dot and having the slide milled for the optic. But it is still a bargain. So the question is how does it shoot. Here are three 10 round targets shot offhand at 7, 11, and 15 yd. My rough measurements of the groups are 1.37 in, 2.13 in, and 3.58 in. Those are 5 inch square targets. That would extrapolate to about 5.2 in groups at 25 yd. I was using some really crappy ammo, flat point factory reloads. Based on my observations while shooting and the results I would say the gun is pretty accurate. I could use some work, however. My hands move around a lot. ATI 45-2.jpg

When people say the 1911 is outdated... here you go putting a red dot optic on it.
It's still proven to be a versatile arm.
$319 for a reliable 1911? Now that's a good deal.
I've been thinking about getting one in 10mm.

It doesn’t really like the flat nose ammo, but is starting to take it more reliably. Round nose and hollow points are absolutely no problem.

The slide was Cerakoted as part of the milling job and that took any play out of the slide to frame fit. The barrel to slide fit was always tight. Now everything is tight as a drum.

Nice chootin'

Just wait until you try some good ammo. Your groups will drop to half.

Thanks, nice of you to say so. I wish there were one or two varieties that reliably turned in great results. I would just go buy some and prove it out. But you look at pistol reviews, you get the impression every different gun has a different favorite ammo.
