S&W 442 vs competition

I have owned carried snd shot a 638 for the past 5 years. I have run easily 500 rounds each year, and some years much more. Still locks up tight and shoots great. I picked up a no lock 442 a couple months ago. I really like to have a J frame in my pocket so when an area shop had them for $337.95, I got the 442. If something does happen to my 638 I’ll have a backup
Here is the 638,442 and my 3 inch model 60

my preferred 38 snubbie is the regular weight taurus 85. still light enough to ccw, but heavy enough to absorb recoil all afternoon long at the range. s&w shoots ok to me with wadcutters only, but is an even more comfortable ccw. ruger lcr went away fast, just didn’t care for it, though the lcr 22lr is a sometimes ccw. charter arms felt rough, my one and only range session with it left my trigger finger bloodied.

For me, the grip of the LCR forces my hand downward and results in an unsatisfactorly high bore axis. I like my upper fingers to be tucked behind the trigger guard, not below it.

I'm an S&W fan, so, I guess my opinion is biased. I have a M642 that I bought new in the mid-1990's and a moon clip M442 that I bought a couple years ago. I like the the moon clips so much that I had the M642's cylinder cut for moon clips (I also modified an M437 for moon clips as well).

I've shot these revolvers alot to get comfortable with the double action only trigger and would feel well protected when carrying one as long as I keep the range limits when aiming a short barreled gun in mind.

Ruger, Taurus and Charter Arms make fine revolvers in this class but I do not have experience with them.
