I'm in no way trying to be critical here or singling out any rifles, but if your stock doesn't have an adjustable cheekpiece you really need to get the scope as low to the bore as possible so that your head is fully and properly supported on the stock when you're looking through the scope. We've all been in situations where we've had to work with what we've got, and long-range shooting is hard enough as it is without building in more complexity. I advise shooters to go for the low hanging fruit. Fixing the fit of the rifle, particularly the height of the scope, can make a huge difference to how it shoots for you.

Definitely a plain jane budget rifle for sure, but it's mine. :D Got it for some casual hog hunting at the in laws in Arkansas, but now that I've shot it its piqued my interest in precision shooting

Savage 10 FCP, 22" Fluted Barrel, .308 Win
Choate Tactical Stock
Weaver Kaspa Tactical 2.5-10x50 w/ side focus

(Going to be ordering the standard and tall cheek risers for the Choate stock soon to see what works)

I REALLY REALLY LIKE THAT SCOPE!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

On more serious note I was afraid I wouldn’t like it because of the price point I was afraid it would underperform

To this day it is my favorite scope I have I like it more than even my beloved Goldrings :what::D

Also nice pics y’all!

For those of us with no way to adjust comb height, lemme suggest a trick I picked up from VT.

cut a piece of padding (i use dense closed cell foam), dounle side tape it to the comb of your stock, then slip a stretchy butt cartridge cuff over it to keep it all in place.

that Magpull stock has comb risers, but the Boyds laminate i had on my RAM did not, so i used that trick.

i also use it on my qb78 Air rifle.

Falkor Defense Omega in 6.5 CM topped with a Vortex Razor Gen II 4.5-27 in a Bobro mount. I figure I’ve got a year before I get the stamp back on my Thuderbeast Ultra 9 and Ultra 7. Probably going to put together a precision bolt action while I wait. Haven’t decided what I want in a bolt gun yet. 09D69535-E2AC-42CE-92F5-503F73E57C17.jpeg

the SWFA has proven to be very rugged scope, i fell a few years go on a step hill with snow dragging a deer. the rifle was on my back, when i got up there were lines cut in to the frozen ground about 2 inches deep, it was from the turrets. not a scratch on the hole gun, this 10x is pretty clear for the money.

I gotta get better about taking photos I suppose.

I’ve dropped this one several times here, my Seekins Havak PH1 which I use as a match rifle. New barrel this season, much heavier, and much better behaved on obstacles. It’s a Seekins Havak action, DLC bolt, Jewel Trigger, 6mm Creedmoor, was a 1:8” Rock Creek 24” fluted Magnum sporter barrel last year, now it’s a 26” Bartlein 1:7.5” twist Heavy Palma. McMillan Game Warden stock with Victor Company cheek riser and Area419 Arcalock rail. SiCo Omega 300 with Anchor Brake out front. Bushnell DMR II on top in Vortex/Seekins PMR rings.

Much heavier barrel this season:

My NRL-22 rifle and practice rig is a Savage Mark II BSEV, restocked into a Boyd’s Pro-Varmint with adjustable cheek riser. It’s also sporting an Area419 Arcalock rail now, and a Rifle Basix Sav-Rat trigger. Bushnell LRHSi on top in Nightforce rings and 20moa base. That group isn’t so impressive, other than to say it was shot offhand at 150yrds.

How do you like that stock?

For the money, no complaints. Usually need some inlet tweaking and of course bedding, and often a bit of relief work on magwells, but I’d rather need to remove material than wish I had a way to put material on.

I have 3 of the Boyd’s Pro-Varmint stocks currently. Probably buying another this summer too for one of my 10/22’s, and maybe another for another M77 Hawkeye.

I need a stock with a goosenecked pistol grip due to a wrist injury, so the Pro-varmint’s are a nice option for low cost. Ain’t a McMillan or Manners, but it does the job.

Ruger RPR in 6.5 CM
Vortex Razor HD AMG 6-24x50
Burris XTR Signature rings
Liberty Sovereign
Harris bp

The barrel is getting long in the tooth so I'm planning on switching before too long to a Proof SS or Krieger in 6mm or 6.5mm Creedmoor (probably just stick with the 6.5).
IMG_20181205_104148921_HDR.jpg

Terrible cell pic of the 1,020 yd berm, I really love the AMG.
IMG_20181125_133616154_HDR.jpg

This little guy doesn't really qualify, but I've been having most of my fun with it lately. A 73gr ELD doesn't do much to an aluminum scuba tank at 800 yds, but it's a hoot to lob them out there anyway.

Odinworks 18" .223 Wylde DMR barrel
Aero M4E1 upper, mystery lower (probably PSA)
Velocity AR trigger
SWFA SS 3-15x42 FFP mil (fixed 12x in the pic)
Same Liberty Sovereign

That Ruger Go Wild reminds of something outta Borderlands! Nice to see something different in terms of the colour scheme.

Blue printed Remington 700
28" border barrel, 1:8.5" twist
6.5x47 Lapua
MDT Tac21 chassis (with 20moa embedded rail) and MDT skeleton buttstock
Timney Calvin Elite 2 stage trigger
Bushnell ERS 3.5-21x50 MRAD scope
Tier 1 tactical unimount rings (zero moa)
Harris 6-9" bipod

The rifle in a wee bit top heavy and I feel that a pendulum style bipod is the next addon. This rifle has gone through a couple of different stocks, triggers and scopes but I feel pretty comfortable with this setup now.

Are target pictures allowed in the precision rifle pic thread?

Pretty is as pretty does I guess, and my rather ugly RPR shot pretty well today.

I ran out of target paint at the 400 yd berm, so the empty can became another target. I fired 3 shots at the can sitting on a log, varying my POA a little bit each time because I knew I should be on, but the can wasn't moving at all. Finally I took a shot at the top to see if I was hitting low and it flew backwards off the log. When I went out to check targets, it turned out that I had been hitting it the whole time... I guess those pointy RDFs were just drilling right through.

IMG_20190706_123418634.jpg

Moving out to 1,020 yds, after a sighter that let me know I was a bit low, the wind calmed some and I was able to shoot this 5 shot group.

IMG_20190706_130812407.jpg

Also scored two consecutive hits on the bulls head (the two furthest to the right).

IMG_20190706_131030650.jpg

Not bad for a hack running a plebe rifle!

Both targets already had shots on them, and I was out of paint so I had to use a stick to rub some mud on the pre-existing impacts beforehand so I'd know which ones were mine... Classy
