Anyone else want this from colt

You are talking a whole new frame size. If they do this may as well do a .44 mag, too. More likely they would come out with an Anaconda size 6 shot if they do anything. Do like the idea of the vent rib and would have been nice if they did this on the 4" adjustable sighted version coming out. Looking at the prices, though, wonder what it would add to the already fairly pricey gun.

I would like to see the Detective Special or Police Positive Special come back chambered for .357 magnum. I would like them to use some of the new "space age" materials to craft revolvers. Although I think its too little too late for Colt at this point.

So you don’t think a 5 shot 45acp is doable in the cobra frame? I know they’ll come out with new models but I’m sure they’ll take this frame as far as they can first

Like the Magnum Carry they briefly made and probably still have the blueprints and whatnot for?

Besides being expensive, Colt ignored the large bore DA market for too long and lost out to Smith. I don't think they can catch up at this point and need to play to their own strengths.

There really isn’t reason a big bore could not be within 100-200 and colt will always have a following no matter what

Don't like the idea of semi-auto rounds in a revolver. Too many really nice semi-auto's out there to go the revolver route. IMO.
I know what you mean, but for us revolver shooters it's pretty nice to have cheaper, softer shooting ammo that is available everywhere.
For the reloader, it's nice to dump those empties in a box right out of the gun. No searching for brass.
I would like a. 45acp revolver to compliment my auto.

Colt needs to stick to the most popular revolver calibers to establish it’s position in the revolver market. Until that is successfully accomplished, chambering in lower demand calibers would be risky. Taking baby steps first before taking long strides is most likely their business plan.

The thing about the .45 ACP in a revolver is that the reloader can make his cartridges as wild or as mild as he wants and functioning is not affected. One of my ACP varmint loads would likely damage or wreck an auto, but worked fine in my sixshooters. And some of my current target rounds likely won't push the slide of an auto back far enough to properly cycle the pistol.

And, has been pointed out, there is no Easter egg hunt for your fired brass.

The new Cobras are slightly smaller than a S&W K frame. A few gunsmiths used to rechamber the K's to .44 SP. The .45 is 0.02" larger in dia. Several factors come into play. One is the cylinder axis to bore center measurement of the barrel. It needs to be sufficient to allow 5 cartridges of the desired caliber to fit without rimlock allowing for Max SAAMI rims. Failure to do so creates problems (see for instance the 7 shot .357 GP100's reported problems). Second the frame must be of sufficient width to allow a reasonably thick forcing cone on the barrel. In their old style 696 .44 SP S&W had this problem of a thin forcing cone. To go to the 69 .44 mag they had to widen the frame sufficiently to allow a thicker forcing cone. So, one would be talking a whole new frame on the Cobra of a bit larger size (medium/large frame). Even, IF they decided to come out with a new frame then the question becomes what will be the sales numbers compared to coming out with a new Anaconda sized frame in 6 shot to handle the larger calibers.

I agree if 45 is not doable on this frame they might as well go 44mag when and if they ever design a new frame

I’m looking for a modern trooper to be the next Colt. But as other have said much more eloquently... pipe dream. I would honestly look more to Kimber if something new was going to be available. S&W, Ruger, and Taurus are pretty much the modern revolver makers, but the K6s would not be unfathomable with a longer grip and longer barrel with decent adjustable sights. Colt... meh. Has-beens in the wheelgun world. They walked away from a technology that was declining in demand and has had no significant technological advances in roughly 100 years outside of metallurgy. Now they are trying to regain their market share by reintroducing the same outdated products at inflated prices. I don’t see their market strategy working out long term until their main point moves away from “yeah, we are colt (ooh ahhh) so it’s awesome and you should buy it”

If Colt could figure a way to manufacture Pythons with today's technology, without all the hand fitting, retaining the smoothness and beautiful bluing, (Is that really possible?) and price it within $100 of the new Smith offerings, it would probably be a great seller. OTOH, their new King Cobra with adjustable sights would be a real seller, too, IMNHO.

Personally I'd buy another if it was a 7 shot 327 Mag. Make it a carry version with the bobbed hammer and I'd buy it tomorrow.
