Dream 1911, Glockettes need not reply

Interesting story? Care to share?
I already did a few months ago, but I'll say it again. First bad experience was with my Reserve unit, when for a very brief time I was issued a 1911A1 instead of an M16 because I was my gun sections M60 gunner. The weapon was WWII vintage and totally worn out and I barely qualified with it. Honestly, I think our unit's RO fudged my scores because the pistol was in that bad a shape.

The second was a civvy Commander model that flat out refused to function with virtually every magazine I ran through it. Problem was, I carried it for a job I had (another long and involved story I'd rather not get into). Finally found two mags that worked well enough to trust it, but by then I'd lost all confidence in the design. Ended up using the weapon I started with, a Charter Arms Undercover, which was really all I needed.
Yes, I know I could have had that Commander buffed and fluffed til it ran like a champ, but I was young, impatient and wasn't keen on having to do that with a machine I paid so much for.

Would like to have an Ed Brown Executive Commander in, you guessed it, .38 Super!

Probably get a matching one in 9mm. too![/QUOT

That’s what I did...... Three Browns, 45 acp, 38 Super and 9mm top to bottom. All configured the same, ambidextrous safety (I’m a Southpaw), thin grips, wide notch rear sight, good bead front sight and short trigger. D42D1B29-1798-4EC9-A067-93EA5F4202B4.jpeg

Bilbo463 either you won the lottery or found a fast horse, those are beautiful, I'm Emerald with envy ( a cut above green).
What's the difference between the Executive carry and the Cobra carry, besides the price tag?

That's easy. One of the US mil Singers, for the collection. I already have enough Kimbers and Springfields and so on to take to the range and shoot.

Not that those aren't nice but you should look up member bac1023 his is a amazing collectoin.

Hmmmm.....

Ultimate 1911. For my uses probably a Chambers Custom Nightfighter 2011. No show and all go, I’d pay extra money to have another 6 magazines vetted and tested in the gun to ensure function. From what I hear customers who have bought them get their pistol after Mr. Chambers has put 500-1000 rounds through it already to make sure it works to his standards.

Pretty sure he sold all his 1911's.

You keep saying that. However, we are not talking about something like below. That is out of reach for 99% of the population.

We are talking guns that even the common man can save money for, if they really desired it.

Course a lot of people would rather buy 5 mediocre guns instead of one good one. Spending the same amount of money in the end.

This is exactly what I said to a buddy of mine who has a couple of Nighthawk's.

Nice guns, but I could buy 5 Glocks and some extra mags, for what he has in each Nighthawk.

And spending that money on those guns hasn't made him a better shooter either. I still whoop his butt everytime we get together, and do it with a lowly, box stock Glock 17.

He would have been better off buying a decent $500-750 factory gun and spending the rest on ammo, and put the time in to get good.

The Nighthawks are pretty though.

I agree.

Back in my 20's, I bought three Chevy Chevette's, a daily driver, a trainer, and one dedicated to competition, instead of one Corvette. I learned to really drive those Chevette's. I could run through that gear box like nobody's business. I got so good with them I took my "comp" Chevette to the track to compete. As good as I was, it was still a 12 second 0-60 car.

With a whole lot less effort and training the Corvette guys were doing 0-60 in 6 seconds, and for whatever reason they seemed to attract a lot of good looking women. Oh, well, the Chevette's got good gas mileage, so I had that going for me.

Humor.

If owning the Nighthawks makes him happy, who are you to judge? Maybe his goal isn't to whoop your butt shooting. Who are you to say what someone else is better off buying?

Interesting how any thread pertaining to 1911s inevitably turns into someone saying that another is "better off" buying a Glock (or Glocks). You've just made the case for some statements some other members made in another thread.

And when the topic is any higher-end or expensive gun, someone always quickly comments on how they can outshoot the guys with those guns with their own less-expensive guns. Do we care?

I couldnt care less what he buys. Hes got the money, and a lot of nice guns.

We've been friends a long time, and it always gets (friendly) "competetive" when we shoot, and he drives that more than me.

The type of guns is meaningless too. I shoot all the time, sometimes every day, he only shoots once in a while, maybe a couple of times a year. I outshoot him with his own guns too, so its not the guns. I simply said that dreaded "Glock" word, because thats what I normally shoot the most these days. The fact that the 1911 crowd thinks they are inferior, is their problem. I could care less about the fanboy crap. I would be willing to bet, that if you cant shoot either of them, equally as well, like my buddy, its not the guns fault.

I have 1911's, and Ill bet Ive owned more of them than most here over the years. I like them and I still shoot them regularly. Unlike some, Im not hung up on any one type or model of something. I use what I use, because I find it fills my needs and works best for me in the moment. If I find something better comes along, Ill be all over it.

Personally I've never met a women who appreciated a 0-60 kind of a guy.:p
I'm beginning to think that if I created a post about the best lure for fishing a Glockateer would post a picture of his gun with fish hooks on it.:neener:

I'm gonna need to do some photoshopping, that would be great

You could be talking about a Manurhin MR73 and get the same reply.. Makes zero sense.

But you would still be stuck with 5 mediocre pistols.
Yea, thats alright. I wouldnt have to keep them in a fur lined flap hoster and worry about them getting dust scratches or BBQ sauce smears on them. :D

Let's be honest, the OP has been trolling Glock owners since he posted this thread.

The only "high end" guns I've ever fired were 1911s. Maybe I'm just not an aficionado but I didn't notice any particular difference between any of them and My RIA. Although I'm sure the difference would be more noticeable in terms of long term wear and tear, I just can't see 5000 dollars in a gun. I might have a different opinion if I had a couple of million in the bank.

Well I can't agree more with this statement, in my 40+ years of handgun shooting I've owned maybe 5 or 6 Colts, everyone was a shooter.
Still own the series 70 gold cup I bought in the mid 70's and while it only functions perfectly with ball ammo I've never felt the need to have it modified. It is still one of the most accurate 1911's I own and unlike my Kimber's the old fashioned Colt Ellison adjustable sights have never needed replacement.
By the way I didn't troll the Glock people, I asked to keep this post 1911 orientated, they elected to put in their 2 cents.:p
