2C8CD57F-39D6-4628-B392-D2F158E42E24.jpeg Picked up my third S&W today, a 629-6. This is my first with the dreaded lock. Only a little more recoil than my .357 and not nearly as much recoil as the SBH with the same ammo. I did sell my 6in Security Six to pay for it. I liked the Six but didn’t love it, maybe someone else will love it. (Excuse the messy loading bench.)

Nice-looking 629, Barry loyd!

I have a 3" 629-1 that I bought in Feb'89 that has long been a favorite of mine. :)

And, yes, all proper loading benches must be messy ... or you are doing something terribly wrong, which may simply be not using it enough. ;)

Aw shucks, putting "S&W Collection" in the thread title without showing the rest of the collection is just cruel!:D

Seriously, though, nice gun. Ive got 7 Smith wheelies, but never had a hankering for a .44. That one would be awfully tempting, though!
Here’s the rest of the collection. 10-6, and 642. The 10-6 is my favorite but don’t tell the 629 that. I included a pic of the Six to show my appreciation for its sacrifice for the good of the collection.

Very nice 629 addition to your S&W growing collection. My first Smith were two M10 Corrections trade ins I got last year. Now I've got the Smith bug. I'm looking at a LE trade in M64-8 now for $300. It's got the lock but for that price I can live with it. I've got an older 10-14 w/lock which is a great shooter so the lock isn't a big deal to me.

I have a few S&W's most of which have the IL. I am not a fan of the lock but I never had one lock up on me.

A buddy of mine got a corrections dept trade in model 64 last year from the now defunct SOG. It was about $300 delivered, has the lock and was pretty well scuffed up, nothing deep though. He went over it lightly with mothers, put some nice wood grips on it and has a really great looking revolver. Not only that, but it has a really smooth and fairly light trigger. Wish I had got one

I have a twin to your 629-6 as well as it’s 6” barreled brother. 44s are addictive because they can be used for almost any purpose with the proper loading. I predict that you will be adding more .44s in the future.

Nice looking revolver.

Personally, not a fan of the 44 (or any magnum) but there is a reason for more than one horse in a race.

re: the lock, if you prefer, it can be removed and replaced with a plug. I have two revolvers with the storage lock, neither has been removed and so far, no problems.

Nice looking 629.
I'm sorta on the opposite track. I'm down to 4 S&W revolvers, 3 617s and a PC325. Sold off 3 to finance a rifle, ammo and optics. I'm trying to keep only the ones I like to shoot.

Then I think "But, if I sell it, I won't have it."

Then, it goes back in the safe.....

LOL! That gun should have gone to the range before returning to the safe.;)
