Asking because I'm thinking of starting a 10 shot challenge for surplus handguns but before I do I want to know people will enter or will NOT shoot their safe queen?

Maybe 100-200 rounds per year. View attachment 849826Is the challenge completely stock only? If not, I'm out :D. Someone with a tuned surplus would clean my clock.
Rules would be must be original not altered (except recoated finish is ok) and must have been come from a military surplus, not just a commercial knock-off. For instance I have a Russian capture P-38 and a CZ-52 I would enter, wish I had a 1911 and a Luger lol.

Do you drive your classic car?... or do you just let it rust away in your garage?

Luger, P38, Broomhandle, Tokarev, Nagant, Webley, Garand, SVT40, Ljugman, Hakim, Mas 49/56, etc.... I enjoy shooting all of them. I do use lighter target loads in my older pistols.

Don't have any safe queens. Shot a 1923 Walther Model 4 today and the Savage 1907 made in 1913 is tomorrows range gun.

But they were both commercial guns of the period.

If they have to be surplussed from Military or Police use it would be a different group but they too get shot regularly. In fact yesterday my Primary Carry was a surplussed Manurhin PP that was from the Austrian Police. Would that count? How about a Brazilian Contract S&W?

... I’m still in it. :)

I love your competition but I don't have a measured range or a bench. Just an old gravel pit. I would be so embarrassed about my off hand shots I would be forced to cheat.

P.s. I was the one that posted the remark about the 03A3 and the Pederson device.

you can pace it , big steps 100 times lol

alright friends I will get a challenge in the works for milsurp handguns coming up sometime

I have shot my property marked pistols in the past, but I don't make a habit of it. I have a SA GI to shoot to get my "1911 fix" .

Well I have two handguns but both are just outside the realm of being military surplus. One is a non-Victory Model S&W M&P which was supplied during the war to security guards at banks, factories and other places deemed vital to the war effort. The other one is a Manurhin P1 which was part of a contract to the then West German police force in Berlin.

What say you...good to go or not allowed?

Absolutely. At least, that is my intention with all of my acquisitions. The only reason for me not (recently or ever [yet]) shooting one of my firearms (and, yes, there are some), "collectible" milsurp or not, is because I just have not gotten around to it. :)

I have that problem as well.

No to the S&W we can't open up every single gun that might have had some part to a war effort has to be a bonified S&W or Colt revolver that has government or lend-lease markings. Yes to the P-38 because I have a post-WW2 one also and it is surplus similar to yours
