THE RULES
MUST be a surplus handgun that was once owned by a military, commercial civilian recreations or knockoffs do not qualify. Must be unaltered however a re-finish like bluing or parkerizing is alright. Must be centerfire cartridge no rimfire allowed.

You will fire 10 shots onto the approved target listed which for this challenge will be a B-16 25 yd slow fire target for both the 15 yd and 25 yd classes. Scoring will be scored by adding up the score for all 10 shots. A shot touching a line counts as the next numbering up. For instance if a shot touches the line separating the 7 and 8 the score is a 8. A X counts as 10 points.

The target used will be a B-16 25 yd slow fire target as is the match is slow fire. You can download the target and make copies online although however I downloaded it on a standard printer paper 8.5 x 11 inch paper, see example photo attached at bottom the target which is slightly smaller than standard targets that are bought or ordered and the printed ones cut out part of the 5 ring so it's best to buy some if you can. You may use any color target or put a sticker in the center X circle if you want to help aiming as long as it fits correct. See the three sample targets in the photo whatever B-16 target you get it has to have a X ring there are some available that just use orange for the whole ten ring and that can't be used.

Firearm must be held one or two handed, no rests, no benching

There will be three classifications.

Class 1, 10 shots at 10 yds
Class 2, 10 shots at 15 yds,
Class 3, 10 shots at 25 yds

Please include with the target submission

username
classification entered class 1, 2 , 3
score
firearm
ammunition
date

then take a pic of it and post it here, if you would post a pic of the firearm used as well.

You may submit as many targets as you wish provided it was shot with a different firearm. One target submission per firearm is allowed within the class . You can take as many tries that you want BEFORE you post your target but only post the target you want to submit for the final submission to the challenge.

If you have a family member or friend that wants to enter they can using your user name and firearm just make notes when posting.

The cutoff date for submissions is September 30 2019

Please submit targets even if you don't think they'll win as the information on how well what shoots may be valuable to other members

Good luck and good shooting

Any questions such as how to post pics or qualifying firearms, or links to possible target downloads please feel free to ask

What about surplus National Police as opposed to Military? Just as examples would a S&W Brazilian Contract 1917 or East German Makarov or Austrian Police Manurhin PP or a US Police surplus handgun qualify?

Vintage police surplus is ok like the ex-communist guns and south American contracts like the Argentine 1911, BUT NO to U.S.A police trade in because that opens the door to people wanting submit their police trade in Glock ect....

I only have 2 unless I count my 1860 Army and 1861 Navy. I don't have proof they were actually owned by a military though.

The Brazilian contract 1917 was used by the Brazilian Army in WWII. And they did quite well with it.

Gonna start it off, P38 Spreewerk Russian capture I got back in the mid 90's he had a crate of Lugers also at the gun show that day wish I would have got one now, it shoots low so I had to aim high and I seemed to shoot to left at 15 yards it might be me doing something wrong. Because it shoots so low I didn't bother at 25 yards. I would have tried for better at 15 yards but because of where I have to aim I'm leaving it at that after a couple tries.

That feeling when you don't have any surplus handguns... :(

I don't think my old pre model 10 was a police gun.

LOL

Have fun fellas. Subbing to see the cool gun pics.

That feeling I get when I don't have a 1911 or a Luger to include in this thread!

However if you are willing to spend some just not a lot the Tokarev with it's wicked 7.62x25 cartridge and a Communist block Makarov can still be had a good prices I am thinking of getting a Tokarev for and by the end of this match.

USA police guns, like I said previous if it can be verified by markings or such that it was a actual surplus gun ( pre 1970) I think it would be ok but other than that how would we know it was a actual surplus? And allowing USA police surplus opens the door to people wanting to include their highway patrolman S&W and such which just isn't fair in my opinion to those entering true used surplus like a CMP 1911. A contract revolver like S&W or Colt like a south American contract I think is ok though.

The fact that mine shoots so low I thought about filing the front sight but am hesitant to even though it is a shooter grade Russian Capture not very collectible but it still a bonified WW2 P38 , or dip the front sight when aiming I think next time I'll try that.

maybe an auxiliary aiming dot?

maybe an auxiliary aiming dot?

I did used the 6 ring line above the bulls to aim for the 10 yard target and a higher for the 15 yard target but it annoys me to do that. Fact that my group went left at 15 yards I;m thinking I wasn't using proper technique since I was center at 10 yards but I only tried a couple times given where I had to aim

Anybody got a stock set of stocks for a model P I can borrow?

Man, those sights were hard to see, I’m glad to have put them all in the dark!

Stay safe.

CLass 3 P.38 s&b

This one made me crazy. Could have easily been a high 80s low 90s score at 25 which is good for me.

72-1X
that's good at 25 yds I normally am not shy of doing 25 yds and showing it no matter how it turns out but with my P38 I didn't see a point but may try again by dipping the front sight see how that turns out.

very cool a type of handgun I'm not really familiar with. I wonder if 124gr might bring it up some. Makes me think I might bring out the Beretta 1934 .380 it is a horrible gun to shoot can't believe it was a actual sidearm of a military but might enter it.
