SIG Sauer P365... XL?

I'm not a fan of striker fired pistols but I do find the grip length on the XL more usable than the standard 365. I know some will counter saying the grip is longer with the extended magazines but my experience with extended magazines with matching grip boots is they are palm pinchers. I almost dropped (threw down and peed my pants is more accurate) my Springfield XDm 3.8 Compact the first time I did a "combat" reload using the extended magazine with the boot grip and slammed the magazine home with a nice sized portion of my palm caught in between the mag boot and the frame. Needless to say I never carried the extended magazine after that. I also moved on to DA/SA hammer fired guns with a full grip shortly after buying the XDm but we'll save that for another thread.

Your posted specs leave out another interesting fact about the XL, it has a stainless steel frame and slide. I find that appealing.

Sig seems to be trying to evolve and hunting for the right formula. Current sales and popularity say I'm wrong but I don't think the standard 365 is the magic Sig thinks it is.

And none of that ugliness or Glock trigger. I own both Glocks and the 365s. My Glocks will be going away soon

OP - do the 15 round mags fit the regular 365?

Don't know anything about'em, except that they exist.

And as for my Glock triggers...? They are plenty sweet for CCW's.

Ugliness...? Form follows function.

And when/if they ever make this in .40 or 45 ACP?
...it will become more interesting to me.

My guess, and that's what it is is a guess since they just released the 15 rd mags alongside the p365 XL is that they will take the same mags and what this is is really a new slide for the p365. Potentially bbl and frame. I have seen posts to that effect on the Sig forums that you can get the XL mod without buying a new pistol.

They do. They come with 2 baseplates, one for the P365 and one for the XL.

Sig is doing something right it seems. I’m not touching them with a 12 foot pole but they are selling the snot out of pistols around here.

I don’t really get it but at the same time am in awe of the success they are showing.

I don't really get it. The 365 is "the game changer subcompact 9mm" magic pistol that allows you to defy physics and carry a full load of service caliber ammunition in a package the size of an Altoids tin and deliver them with with less recoil than a pellet gun....or so the hype goes. Why take away the form factor that makes the 365 what it is? It may be a fine pistol, but why associate it with the 365? It would be like if Mini introduced a 5 door station wagon...I mean that would be ridiculous right? You know, because...Mini, they're whole reason is they're small...so....why....would Clubman_5839.jpg Oh for Pete's sake!

I don’t understand why. The 365 is one of the best compact guns out there. They just made it harder to conceal

The Glock 43x/48 and Sig P365XL sized guns are the ideal size in my world. Will be picking up a Sig 365XL to run alongside my Glock 48 when they start becoming available. The P365 only slightly interested me and thne I held one and it was just too small for a main carry gun for me. I would've wanted to carry the extended magazines the whole time which puts me at the same grip length as a G43x/48 or P365XL and one doesn't have a hand pinch point with reloading with extended magazines.

Good thing no one is forcing anyone in purchasing any of these firearms and it's not like they got rid of the P365, the more options the better. I've never really been a Sig fan but these new decisions are starting to have an effect on me.
