I have the opportunities to purchase an M&P Shield 2.0 9mm for under $300 if I can beat them down. XD Mod 2 sub or compact 9mm. I don't know if they consider this their sub or compact. Price on this guy will be about the same as the shield. I have shot a shield and I like the way it points and feels but the 1.0 version shot high and left no matter what I did. Never fired the XD and it feels kind of large for CCW. I would either use a OWB or IWB for it. I have to win an auction on these so its kind of sight unseen. Just wondering if the XD has anything over the Shield?

Now for the big boys. M&P 5'' 1.0 9mm or XD mod 2 5'' barrel? These would be used primarily for competing in action/3 gun shoots or just use my M&P 1.0 4.5'' barrel because 1/2'' isn't going to make a difference? I haven't seen these guns because I am getting info from a 3rd party but the XDM 5'' barrel I handled last night has some really nice sights for quick shots and the trigger feels really good. What's the difference between Mod 2 5'' and XDM 5''? Guy at the shop didn't know the difference between the two. The M&P is up to $400 and the XD is under $400. I am a huge M&P fan but the XD did feel good in the hand and pointability.

It is a bit thicker and taller than my Glock 27 (26 size) ... But it conceals well IWB .. With small ( short mag )
13 +1 , 16+1 with extended mag

The pistole is a shooter .. Soft shooting and accurate

I too am huge fan of the XD mod 2 as you can tell. I have tried many for ccw and range play over the years and have settled on these as favorite overall. The XD subcompact is a breeze to conceal. At 13+1 it’s great

How are you concealing it?

Put a Powder River trigger in it, you'll really love it!

I very frequently carry one of my XD SCs, I modified them only with Trijicon HD night sights and use a Pearce Grips replacement floor plate for the short magazine to allow a full pinky grip. This extension only lengthens the toe of the grip, not the heel so concealability is not compromised. My spare mags are full size. I usually use either a Blade-Tech Eclipse Kydex or a Galco Combat Master holster for OWB or a Comp-Tac for IWB. Concealment is not a problem, bur then I'm 6'1", 240# and wear loose untucked shirts most of the time. Mine have been 100% reliable. Fortunately, they have never left their holsters except at the range.

A good friend who is a Federal agent uses a Glock 19 for external carry and a S&W Shield 2.0 in 9mm as a concealed back-up. I have shot the Shield but prefer the XD SC, perhaps because I have trained much more with it.

I am torn between the xd because they appear very thick which always made me think hard to conceal.

The mod 2 tactical model xd in 9mm maybe had for $300 should I spring for an M&P 5” or the XD? I have 5-17rd mags for a 4.5” barrel M&P. The shield 2.0 maybe $285-300 too. The Xd Sub compact will be over $300

My XD is similar to my Glock 29 in thickness ...
Do you have original or mod2? My mod2 is thinner than my G29. I think overall width is similar to G26. Mod 2 widest point is slide whereby G26 is grip. I think grip width more important than slide for ccw. Side note, I consider the G29 easy to conceal and not chunky too though.

XD9 compact for me soon. Hope to trade in my Taurus 605 357. Already have an xde 9mm. and carry that 98% of the time.

Have a couple of Shields, M&P 2.0, and a Mod 2 Subcompact... I prefer and would recommend the Mod 2 between the three.
