So with my new Ridgeline a week or so out, scope on hand and rings ready to go, it occurred to me that I don't have a bipod worthy of this particular rig.

So I did some research, and have come to realize that my inexperience limits how much I can actually get from reading reviews etc.

So here's the question, what Bipods would y'all recommend (and why) for a rig that is on lighter side.
gun with scope and mounts, comes in bout 8lbs, don't wanna add a much weight to that.

right now I'm thinking good old Harris, or an Atlas. Or both, Atlas for prone, and a taller Harris for field.

Harris for sure in terms of weight and slim overall profile. I’ve carried them all over the globe and never had a single issue. I’ve got a couple Atlas bipod stop and I’ve never put them on a scale next to a Harris, but the Atlas pods do seem to have beefier dimensions.

swagger qd looks like it might be an option. The regular swagger looks interesting, if bulky.

I think the versapod is easier to attach to my rifle and is easier to adjust. I think one is as stable as the other.

I find it easier to consistently load my Magpul bipod then the Harris, and overall it seems to be a better made piece of kit to me than the Harris. The tilt and pan feature is pretty handy for field use, although I tend to keep the pan locked when shooting from the bench.

I would expect the Atlas to be better still, but when you’re looking in the price range of a Harris – I would take the Magpul instead.

@LoonWulf, it's hard to find objective reviews of rifles these days. So many "influencers" are bought and paid for with free stuff. As you might know, Christensen makes their CF wrapped barrels using an entirely different approach to Proof, and from what I understand this causes uneven stresses in the barrel as it heats up. I'm looking forward to seeing your results and reading your impressions of the rifle.

thanks for the ideas guys!

I remember reading about Christensens carbon barrels some 20years ago or so, but I haven't kept up with the tech. Honestly I've never really wanted a carbon tube. If the Mesa or Mesa long-range had been available in .280AI, I would have bought one of those (and I could have afforded that without selling 1/2 my project rifles lol). I like the rest of components on the Christensen guns.
So, I'm really looking forward to seeing how this thing does and I'll try get a complete review done after shooting it for a bit
