So I was in the LGS last week and came across a Taurus PT 140 Milleneum Pro. Managed to walk out the door with the pistol, 3 magazines, case and tools and 2 boxes of Winchester white box 180 grain JHP's for $217.

I do know about the recall and might send it in one day for evaluation or replacement, but for now, it seems like it will be a fun/truck gun.

Took it to the range today with some of the White box ammo and 3 batches of 10 reloads. It shot well and accurate out to 10 yards. Didn't go much farther than that as this is really not a target gun. That being said, I feel certain, I could hit out to 25 yards with it.

Anyway, I am sure there will be the usual Taurus bashers in 5..4..3...2...1 :alien:

But it was dirt cheap and seems like it will be a fun range toy.

BTW, two of the three loads worked very well. They were 5.2 and 5.4 grains of Winchester 231 with a 180 grain Plated HP, mixed brass and Winchester small pistol primers at 1.125 OAL

I had a PT-145 for several years. Never gave me any trouble, and I liked the gun. I traded it off for something else.

I like my PT-140 Mil Pro. Mine is DAO, took a little getting used to the trigger at first but I'm able to shoot it well and it's been 100% reliable since the day I bought it new. Only downside for me is that it's a bit chunky for CCW, but certainly doable with the right clothing.

No bashing here. I love shooting my Taurus PT-132 Pro. (GB Pic)

I still have my PT145. Love the SA/DA trigger and 10 shot double stack in Glock 19 sized package.

Frankly I only traded it because I thought it might be hard to move later due to the recall. I really like the gun, but I don't regret the decision. It helped me get into my Taurus 1911, which I like even more.

I own 2 Taurus pt92s a pt1911 and a millinium in 9mm they are all good guns I’m sure you’ll be happy with your purchase.

Taurus bashers
Well, I am usually one of the first ;), but my first CCW was a Millennium in 9mm. Never jammed, as accurate as one could expect. In fact, the only issue I had with it, and the reason I traded it, was because it (surface) rusted the first time I carried it all (July) day SOB (back then, probably wasn't using a holster). I might have had a string of bad luck with my Taurii, but the Millennium was better than I deserved.

Don't even consider it unless you want a Millennium G2 9mm instead. That is what they will send you if you return it, there is no "evaluation" or "repair". You'll also have to pay FFL transfer fee to get it.

Personally I'd not consider a gun that is not drop safe (the reason for the class action lawsuit and subsequent recall settlement) as a "truck gun" unless you keep it chamber empty. YMMV, but the possibility of a random shot during a collision is not something I'm willing to live with.

I had them in 9mm, .40 and .45, and sent them in. Now I've three 9mm :( But I do think the G2 is a good pistol, although it has the most uncomfortable trigger dingus ever.
I sent mine back right after the settlement was finalized and it was only last month that I got the final replacement.

Be aware that with your pistol it is possible to apply the safety and still have the pistol fire if the trigger is pulled, details here:

Still have my PT140 Mil Pro, although I did do a bit of modification to it. This is the DA/SA model and the SA sear had some issues, was a bit to sensitive, recoil would actually make it fire twice. So, i removed the SA sear and made it DAO. Other than that, the pistol shoots great. I have recently retired my PT140 and replaced it with the G2C. I had reservations on another Taurus, but the G2C is a solid shooter.

Me too! They are rare. I'm almost surprised to learn that someone else on here owns one. :)

I actually tried that at the range and could not duplicate the issue. Perhaps Taurus fixed this one previously? IDK, but this one functions as it should. Appreciate your input!

I've got a PT111 that was considered Gen3, and I also have the Pt111G2. both good little guns, the G2 rides in the pickup 95% of the time.

My PT 145 was an outstanding gun for about 1500 rounds. For many people that would work, because they don't see defensive guns as something that get a lot of use. Once I got past 1500 rounds, the gun developed what is a not-uncommon problem for Taurus Mil Pro pistols: a magazine drop issue. At first you think your thumb is hitting the mag release. but it's not. I always thought the mag release was too light on some Taurus pistols from the factory, but I can't say for sure if that was the source of the problem. I fixed the problem myself with a mag shim, but then I started getting light strikes, and by that time the class action suit had happened, so I just sold the gun back to Taurus for $200.

But there were good things about that pistol: A mag capacity greater than anything else it's size, and I've never had any other really small .45acp have the relatively soft recoil that gun had. My PT 111 G2's are outstanding for guns in that price range.
