I really want a Glock 43x, talk me out out of it!

I bought a 42, actually two of them, and swore I wasnt going to bother with the 43. That didnt work out, and I bought a 43. They all worked fine, but I was right about them. Ive since wised up. I think. :)

I still think the 26 is the sweet spot. I carried all of them in the same spots, and with the same holsters, with no problem, so I wasnt seeing any advantage to the 42 or 43. I really dont see the X being any better. The 26 is just more versatile.

There, did that work? :D

I bought the 48 and really like it, the sight radius to slimness really makes for a nice carry. If one appendix carries I think the 43x would be great.

48, especially now they have black, is the one to get I think. But either way, the new compacts are very, very, very nice.

I am not a Glock guy (now, have been) and after shooting one and handling the rest, am tempted. If a Glock type: go get one immediately.

Okay, one caveat: If you ever want a WML on it, WAIT just a tiny bit for the RAIL models to actually arrive in stores. They are close.

I had a G43 when they 1st came out. It was a good size to carry, but I didn't shoot it well. I eventually let it go but always felt it was probably just that individual gun. About a month ago I went into a gun shop with cash in hand. I was interested in one of 4 guns. Sig 365, G43, G43X, and G48. They were out of stock on the Sigs, and I caught the store with a 1 day only special with all 9mm Glocks selling for $400 OTD. The Sig, if one had been in stock was $100 more. I'm still interested in adding one of the Sigs to my safe, but decided at $400 one of the Glocks would come home with me that day.

I handled the G48, but didn't feel it did anything I couldn't do just as well as my G19. The G19 will work with 15, 17, and even 33 round mags plus has a rail for a light which the G48 does not. The G48 is actually bigger than my G19 in every dimension other than thickness and only uses much harder to find 10 round mags I have no problems carrying the G19 in most places. I ruled it out pretty quickly and if I want more ammo capacity the Sig is available with 10,12, and even 15 round mags in a smaller package. I will have one eventually.

The 43X was tempting, but I left with another G43. This one shoots very well for me. The longer grip of both the G48 and G43X were the deal killers for me. Too long for a compact gun. I decided that if I were going small, go small.

Where I think Glock messed up is not making the G43 capable of using the same 10 round magazines as the G43X and G48. I can buy a G26 and use all of the longer mags in it. I think that a standard G43 with the 6 round mags for deep concealed use and the option of using the 10 round mags would have been a better option than the G43X. With, or even without a mag sleeve on the longer magazines you'd have the same thing. S&W and Ruger both offer that option on their compact guns and aftermarket mag sleeves are available if someone worries about such things. I shoot the longer mags in my G19 and G29 without mag sleeves and have never had an issue.

I picked one up at the shop and it was love at first sight. Have and carry my 43X for almost a month now, over 1000 through it. Might be the last carry gun I buy.

Sure. The 48 isn't really any more difficult to carry, offers a longer sight radius, and the proportions are more aesthetically appealing. That's why you shouldn't buy a 43x.
Exactly... I don't get the point of the 43x... Makes zero sense to me unless maybe someone wants to appendix carry. It looks funny and disproportionate, has a shorter sight radius, less velocity, etc... I'd get the 48 if you must have a Glock, or a the Sig 365/365XL... With the 365, you get the same or more capacity with a shorter grip and with night sights for not much more money. Again, with the 43x, I just don't understand the purpose...

As said, the hardest part to conceal is the handle. But I don’t think you lose anything with the 43x vs 48. I have a 48. Decent gun. The sky doesn’t part or anything, but it’s good. I still like my PPS Classic better.

I am not a Glock fan, but out of curiosity was able to get a hold of a 43X and test it out and shoot 200 rds through the gun. I did not care for the way the gun handled and woke up the next day with a Blister on my trigger finger. So, nothing wrong with the 43X other than it is not the right gun for myself. I tested the 365 and again a no go. Just not a good fit. My Point is, go rent one or borrow one. If you like it, buy it. You might fall in love with it. One shoe does not fit all no matter what the internet says. There are a whole lot of nice stiker fired guns on the market now. You might even find one you like better. Just do not be in a rush to buy.

Some, like myself, are fine with the polymer sights.
Others like the $20 steel sight upgrade.
And quite a few like the $100 lamp sights.

Seems like a good system - "Different strokes..."

GR

They don’t bother me, either...
My G26 is 20yrs old, and still carries the polymer sights it came with, and they look new. Despite years of carry and shooting.
Or, there is my police surplus G22, which came with Glock night sights.... those only cost about $50 if you send your slide in to have them installed. I’ve been liking those, may get them for the G26.

But, back to the OP, the G26 does everything I need a compact carry 9mm to do. In fact, it does anything I need a 9mm for, from carry to home defense. It is a do it all pistol.

One of the advantages of being retire d and working part time in a LGS is I get to play with all the new stuff. :D

Admittedly I'm not a Glock guy but I have shot them all and the only one I own is the 26 YMMV

Sights are an easy fix on anything that allows them to be changed. The Glock factory sights work fine, but if you have to search around for something to bitch about, have at it. :D

I normally put three-dot night sights on most of my handguns, if I can get them on there. And fro Glocks, thats an easy fix.

As many have said if one is not appendix carrying, I see no point to the 43x over the 48.

In regards to the sights, many change them out anyways, so the Glock dust covers are a good stop gap on the way to the end users preferred sights.
