My can is in, now I need a host. And apparently, not all hosts are equal. I currently shoot an unsuppressed eaa witness elite match. In the gun store, I'm finding I don't like some of the top performers.

No sig 226 (I'm left handed)
No hk usp. Doesn't fit me well.
No Beretta 92
Glock would not be my first choice. It doesn't fit me well, but I suppose I could make it work if I had to, but I really don't like the big blocky grip. Parts galore though.

I'm currently leaning toward the cz p10 because it fits my hand well, has a pretty good trigger, and is affordable.

That said, what do you recommend? I really want to hear you opinions if you have compared multiple hosts.

How about one of the compatible CZ 75 variants.

VP9 tactical maybe if you want striker fired. The VP feels very different than a USP.

If I was in the market for a suppressor ready pistol I would look at either the CZ P10 or the P07. I like the ergonomics of both guns and since I already have a P07 it would be an excellent fit for me.

I have threaded barrels for a number of my stock Glocks and for one of my Berettas. Both work well with my AAC suppressor and no problems. None of the guns I use my suppressor on have suppressor sights either.

I bought a CZ P10C earlier this year. It came with a factory threaded barrel and suppressor sights. They have a rep for not working properly with the suppressor mounted. If you do a search on YouTube, you will be able to get a better idea. I believe there are a couple too.

I had the exact problem they were having in the video I watched. I got the gun used. It looked NIB, and (I dont think it was shot much at all either. It worked fine without the suppressor attached. As soon as I did put the suppressor on, it was basically a single shot, for about the first 200 rounds, and was still having troubles when I decided to get rid of it.

Personally, I like my Glocks the best. The Beretta is good too, I just like the Glocks better.

I hear you can get the cz p10 to work if you use a 13lb spring instead of a 20lb spring, but who knows. It's phenominally stupid for cz to sell a suppressor ready gun that won't run suppressor friendly ammo. How hard is it to include a reduced power recoil spring /guide rod assembly?

Firtst off, I am admittedly picky. 2nd,f i have not fired all these, but here is my take on the aforementioned guns: 509 I tried had a pretty bad trigger in it, I do not know if it can be improved. The p07/09/sp01 guns are nice, but my grip causes my thumbs to ride on the decocker. It's not a deal breaker, but it is uncomfortable. The vp9 feels nice, but my trigger fingertip rubs and gets pinched. Maybe the larger backstrap would fix it. No suppressor sights either. I liked the m&p ok, but the 2.0 version is too aggressively stippled for my taste. And the trigger is lacking. The canik tp9 was actually surprisingly nice, and the trigger in the combat elite model was unreal. The ppq threaded model was ok, but lacked suppressor sights. The XD is inoffensive but uninspiring.

I can pick a gun based on feel and features, what I cannot do is find out how they perform with a can, so all the input I can get is appreciated.

A Walther PPQ Navy or Q4. I'd advise the Q4, as it is not only suppressor ready, but red dot ready as well.

I’m gonna throw my hat in and go with a S&W single stack. They just fit the hand better. Not to mention the sub $500 price allows for multiple variations.

The Beretta 92 is by far the most reliable suppressor host. They'll even run without a booster with lighter suppressors, and will swallow light subsonic loads that choke other guns, such as Hush 165 gr. Why is a 92 not in the running for you?

M&Ps do OK, but get real sluggish with light loads

Glocks are fickle, tend to still need pretty stout ammo like AE 147s, which are pretty spicy and barely subsonic (read=loud) to cycle. I have seen more Glocks choke with a can on them, owners chock full of excuses while the Berettas run like sewing machines regardless of which can, what ammo and how well lubed the piston is. I consider Glocks poor suppressor hosts. The G20 I had wouldn't run suppressed unless you manhandled the thing, regardless of recoil spring, how much lube, what ammo.

FNs are reputedly good hosts, although I have no experience with them in 9mm.

Hard to go wrong with a CZ.

I have a Remington RP9 I threaded, and it does well with most factory ammo, but won't run the cream puff subs my 92FS digests.

My understanding of the issue with the P10C was the top of the barrel at lock up. The tolerances/clearances are fine without the weight of the suppressor on the barrel. But with it there, it interferes with the unlocking, until things wear in.

As I said, mine started to break in after a couple of hundred rounds, as seems to be the norm, but I was still having the occasional issue with function. Not saying it wouldnt clear up eventually, but youd figure they would address it.

The top of the Glock barrels (the P10C is basically a Glock copy) have a bit more of a bevel at the front of the barrel where it locks up. Im thinking that may be the issue here with the CZ.

I only have experience with the four Glocks I have that have threaded barrels on them, but they all run fine with any ammo Ive used in them. I dont use low power loads though, Glocks dont like them suppressor or not. Subsonic 147's run great in mine and are quiet, especially if you wet the can.

Other than the aftermarket barrels, the guns are box stock too.

All the Glock barrels just dropped in too.

My Beretta threaded barrel needed a bit of minor fitting, and break-in, but after that, it was fine, and the gun runs fine with it now.

Now that the Beretta barrel is broke in, I see no difference between the guns in function or sound.

I just don't like much about the Berettas. They are pretty wide in the grip, I don't like the feel of the round butt, or the trigger. They are also expensive. Maybe the thing to do is is get a p07, dump some Cajun gun works parts in it and adjust my grip so the decocker doesn't bother me as much.

I would assume most browning tilting barrel action jobs will break in then eventually fail as they are not designed for the extra weight. Aside from the MK23 how many guns where designed with a can in mind?

My Glocks havent needed any break in, and dont seem to be wearing any more than the Glocks I have that dont have the suppressor mounted on them.

If they fail at some point, they fail, just like anything else. I just havent heard of that (yet), nor have I seen any kind of round coumt, estimated or otherwise, when that demise might occur.

Ive shot my one 17 a good bit (more than the others, but no real "count". Multiple "1000's" anyway.) with the suppressor on it. Im not seeing any indication that its being stressed or going to have a problem. No extra shine on any of its parts, or anything out of the norm.

I did notice on the CZ that there was some finish wear on the front edge of the barrel at the lock up that wasnt there when I got it. The shoulder there is more square than the Glocksand has less of a bevel. Thats why I think they would do better to address that and maybe give it more of a Glock profile and the issue would probably go away. But, thats just a guess.

There are a number of 92 variants with thinner, straighter grips, and a couple with single action only fire control.

I paid $449 shipped for the last 92FS I bought, new from PSA

A lot of CZ's target market is competition shooters these days. We all play around with spring weights to get the gun returning after recoil the way we want it to. For my competition guns, I have springs in 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 12.75, 14, 16, 18, and 20lb varieties. I'm not saying you're wrong, just pointing out that the market CZ has been playing to is going to tinker with spring weights beyond just finding something that "works."

The p07/09/sp01 guns are nice, but my grip causes my thumbs to ride on the decocker.

Then convert the 07 or 09 to manual safety. Or get an SP-01 with a safety. Then riding it becomes a feature, not a bug.

Something with a metal frame so you can do this (see below), note the slide lock. Makes for a much quieter gun.

If you handload, you just tailor really light loads that won't cycle the gun, which will be even quieter than regular subs with a locked slide. I have a super quiet creampuff load that won't run any of my hosts except the 92FS.

Yeah, but with a locked slide you can run 147 grain HPs at 900 fps . . . and your wimpy stuff.

:p

Do you own any 9mm guns now you can get a new barrel for? A 9mm 1911 will be great. Aside from that I would be looking into hk fnh or Glock for first round dedicated hosts.
