can I fit a Ruger Security Six hammer in a 2013 Ruger gp100? A bit of fitting is ok.

It’s quite possible but wouldn’t the Six hammer be harder to get than the GP100 hammer? Ruger may sell you one.

strangely there are Security Six triggers to b had from da’ bay and others, but not gp100. Often they r out of stock at the big 2 parts houses. Used trigger units are more available than hammers; but understandable. If a part breaks/wears out, its an easy and inexpensive fix to just pop in a complete good
used unit; especially if one doesn’t know how to replace trigger parts I guess.

If you have a broken one on a GP100, I would think it may be under warranty. Ruger is usually pretty good about taking care of their latest production guns.
I'd give them a call and at least ask. Worst they could say it no. If they won't install and fit under warranty, maybe they would sell you one.
Another good source for parts that I've found is schludershots.com. Bruce has helped me on several occasions with parts no one else had.
Also Cylinder and Slide, Jacks First and USA Guns and Gear are good parts sources.

Thx will try them! USA guns and gear mainly S&W tho. Numrich still out of stock, and no luck elsewhere.

Nada everywhere. Guess I’ll just keep checking the gun and reg auction sites; lest somebody has one for sale maybe? Blued or stainless doesn’t matter!

May I ask why you want a hammer? If it’s broke, Ruger will repair it. Likely free.

Never said I had a broken hammer; I am building a gp100 from spare parts and just don’t have one is all. I have the dog and spring though. I’ve ended up with various parts for guns throughout the years; if I needed a part I couldn’t readily get individually, I’ve often found it in a parts lot. Use the part, file the rest. So I find myself Hammerless for this project.

Start and halfway in pics. Full polish and I will assemble once I find the hammer.

Thanks Ratshooter, I appreciate your help looking! Actually i’m on the list, they have just been out for some time. While I wait and search, I think I’ll study the schematics more closely for the Security Six and gp100; and if the sears line up closely I will get a SIx hammer and see if it’s feasable to fit it. Maybe I will find another parts lot not too expensive that has a hammer.

Found this. They are out of stock right now but you can add it to a "saved parts" list and they will email you when they get one in.

Just a heads up, you don't always get the email when a desired part if back in stock. I would recommend checking the website every week or so. You can actually log in and go to your saved parts listings to see if it is in stock without going through all the schematics. I just happened to check my wanted parts list last week and a part I have been looking for well over a month is now in stock and I never got an email. Great company and I certainly did not mean to put them down, but sometimes the emails don't get out like they should.

GP100 HAMMERS ARE BACK! As of last week the gp100 hammers are back in stock at Numrich; bout’$35 shipped. Grab one or two while you can, takes a looong time to restock.

And no, the Security Six is a different design afa just swapping one into a GP100.

eBay, like numrich, will have listings for GP hammers and other lock work intermittently. Just gotta be patient.

Ruger doesn’t sell the lockwork components of their double actions as they do for single actions, but there are plenty of take off, destroyed receiver, or otherwise used, but available lockwork parts. I buy a lot just to be sure I have inventory for future projects.
