Would getting a Glock 26 be redundant if I own a Glock 19?

I overlaid my 365 on top of my Kahr CM-9 and they are right at the same size, thickness, etc - except the Kahr is 6+1, the SIG is 10+1 or 12+1

I have a 26 and find it a bit challenging to conceal because of the widths (chunky pistol and chunky me). I also have a 48 and that conceals nicely for me, but of course I sacrifice mag compatibility with the double stacks. Still, it is a thin 19, a 48 (or 43x) might be worth considering.

This is my thinking, and suggestion, as well.

If you can't carry a G19? Go with the G48.

The Bbl length isn't the problem unless you plan to pocket-carry (or maybe appendix)... it's the thickness and the grip that matter.

My G23 is the same as a G19, and a little chunky to carry IWB at 4:00.

My G36, on the other hand, is a very sweet carry.

And the G48 is lighter and thinner still.

And a note about capacity - that extra on-board ammo in that fat Dbl-stack is at the very end of the unsupported part of the pistol... where inertia has a field day as soon as you start to move in a hurry. An extra mag, which should be carried anyway for its own intrinsic value, has that ammo lashed down tight.

Beltman belt. Aiwb kydex with claw. Glock 43, 43x, 48, sig p365 or p365xl. Whichever suits your hand and you shoot best. If the triggers scare you go with one of the little Kahrs. Any will serve you well and they all hide beautifully.

What about a Sig P320 Compact? I’m not opposed to getting a Sig and the size looks right.

Sig p320c a little thick for my taste for iwb but an excellent choice if comfortable and concealable.

I do not own a G19 but I do own a G17 & G26 so my opinion might not matter plus its only my 2nd post here. I recently purchased an M&P Shield to replace my G26 for summer and deeper concealed carry. So far I prefer the Shield 9mm over the G26 because it is just enough smaller and lighter to be more comfortable for me. I carry @ 3:30 to 4:00 o'clock in a vedder Light tuck. I also shoot the Shield a little better the the G26 I think mostly because it fits my medium/small hands better. I rarely if ever carry the G17 accept in cold winter months were I have heavy clothing on. YMMV

OK, before you buy another gun, get yourself some proper carry gear(0) for your G19(1). MUCH more important than buying another gun.

1. Get yourself a couple quality, stiff gun belts. And quality holster(s). Like yesterday. 1.5" wide is most useful, but a 1.75" wide is good with jeans. Get OWB and IWB holsters. Yes, two or more holsters for the same gun. Next holster after OWB & IWB would be shoulder holster.

2. Both leather and synthetics are good, if you buy quality. I favor leather for carry most times, synthetic if I expect to bathe in sweat.

#1 and #2 above might cure what ails you. A G19 is the usual obese double-stack brick of a gun made by Glock, but even fat Glocks can conceal with the right gear.

Plenty of good holster & belt makers listed above.

If I was forced to give specific suggestions: https://epsaddlery.com/
OWB Holster:
El Paso Saddlery Tortilla, Strongside Select, or Street Combat. I like thumb snaps on OWB holsters.

IWB Holster:
El Paso Saddlery Border Boss (Or any of the many Milt Sparks VM2 clones)

You'll notice that all of the above are pancake-ish holsters that have two, wide-spaced belt attachments to limit holster+gun thickness.

Belt:
1.5" Dress Belt or 1.75" Garrison Belt with lining option

Mag Carrier:
2F or 2FD Friction Mag Pouch (totes 2 mags). Many mag pouches are overly large, complex, or thick. These are simple, compact, and thin. And work great on both 1.5" and 1.75" wide gun belts.

El Paso Saddlery is not the only good gun leather maker, but they are one-stop-shop and easy to work with with reasonable wait times.

OK, a G26 is not redundant if you own a G19, but if you are seeking greater conceal-ability, the new, slimmer single-stack Glocks are a better choice...if you shoot them well. I shoot the fat, brick-like Glocks much better than the single-stack, merely "big boned" Glocks(2)

(0) There is a scurrilous rumor that I bought a complete rig (holster, belt, double mag pouch) a whole two years before I bought the gun that went in them. Just because they were so well-made and pretty...and no longer available as the gal who made them retired.

(1) Which is a fine example of carry tupperware. Not a Glock guy, but they are good quality and the G19 is likely the best of the plastics for most CCW folk.

(2) I shoot 1911-pattern guns better then either.

I did give up a 26 for a 19, I would never give up my 19 for another 26. YMMV and you should let your own preferences guide you decisions.

No, if anything the G26 would make owning a G19 redundant. I have the G27, even in .40 the gun is very shootable and I'm quite accurate with it. I also have a G35, basically a G22 with an inch longer barrel and adjustable rear sight, and I've never felt the need to go with the compact G19/G23. If I feel I need more gun than the 27, I just bring a longer spare mag.

A g26 will take any double stack 9mm glock magazine. You can have 10, 15, 17, or 33 rounds in a compact handgun that shoots almost as well as a full size glock.

It's easy to carry iwb, and I have carried mine in a pocket holster in cargo pants and shorts. I have had mine since 2002 and I put night sights on it.

If you like the Glock go with the 26. You can always add some length to the grip with a Pearce extension.

You can also use any magazine that fits in the 19 or 17.

It is small enough to be pocket carried. You do need to find the right type of pants to do it though.

The issue I ran into is I was planning on carrying my 19, but after I put it into the holster with my regular every day summer clothes on (t-shirt and khaki shorts), I noticed that depending on how my body was oriented, it was obvious in some cases that I had a gun on my side. It's not like I wear super tight clothes, but I'm also not wearing ridiculously baggy clothes. I definitely could make carrying a 19 work in the colder months where I'm wearing baggier clothing, but not in the warmer months.
Well the thickness is the same, the rear of the slide sticks up above your beltline the same... The grip is a half inch shorter, so it depends where it's printing I guess and how concerned you are/what your state laws say about people noticing it. I actually carry a Glock 27 rather than a 23 not because it's more easily hidden but because I can lean back with a G27 without the butt hooking in chair spokes constantly or the seat pushing the butt into my back more causing the top of the gun to try and twist out, and the shorter length means I can sit in bucket seats without them trying to push the gun up... So I wouldn't say it's much more concealable, but the 27, 26, 33 size is much more comfortable in every situation, for me anyway.

I’m a short, thin guy, and the 26 conceals much easier than a 19 for me. I had a 43 and I really couldn’t tell a difference between the 26 and 43 for carry, and I didn’t like giving up the extra rounds. I also find the 26 is an easy shooter and nice companion to my Glock 34.

No, getting a Glock 26 would not be redundant at all. Packing a Glock 19 around all the time would be trying.

But, going with a single stacked pistol with a short magazine would make summer carry even better. I’ve carried a Shield 9mm for the last three years almost every day off duty. Not the ideal weapon, but it’s THERE with me all the time.

If the Sig P365 had been out at the time, it would be in my holster now, capacity matters.

Buy what you will be willing to consistently pack.

I find a 19 easy enough to conceal that the 26 doesn't add a ton for me, though on rare occasions the short grip does help.

When I carry my 26 I most often do with a 15 or 12 round mag in it anyway.

So yeah, redundant for me, but your body is of course different so only you can know.

All that said, the 26 is still thick and if you want to keep your tight clothes maybe a single stack is what you need to look into, or consider dressing around the gun

So I tried a 43 and 43X at the LGS and my hand was too big for the 43, but the 43X was a perfect fit. Is the 43X a good choice? I’ve heard mixed reviews on it, so I’m hesitant to get it. I feel like my hands are too big for many textbook EDC guns like the 26, 43, etc.

I'd try a 48 before I make my final choice.

The G26 is not redundant, if you want it, like it and can afford it, buy it.
A good belt is mandatory if you want to carry comfortably. I have had a Beltman for about three years and may buy another for cosmetic reasons only.
As far as concealment it is good to be conscious of it. I have said it before, unless you look like my wife, not many people pay much attention to you.
