Took my new P365 MS out for its first test run, and thought I would present my first impressions.

I know there are a lot of these threads out there already, and I apologize if I am being redundant, but I did not want to pollute someone else's thread.

Background: I am a pretty big SIG guy, and have been shooting them for many years (I currently have 5 SIGs). For the last 4+ years, I have been carrying a SIG P938, and I love it. It has been my trusted companion daily for a long time.

The higher capacity of the P365 attracted me, but since I am so used to having a manual safety on my carry gun, I was waiting for the release of the version with the manual safety before diving in.

I went to an indoor range today, and although I prefer outdoor ranges, this one was close, and when I went in, I was the only shooter.

I brought a few different types of ammo with me to test:

-Fiocchi 115gr RN (I haven't shot factory ammo in years other than my SD ammo!)
-Federal HST 147 +P (SD ammo)
-Handloads - RMR 147 gr FP over Sport pistol (PF = ~132)
-Handloads - RMR 124 gr JHP over Sport pistol (PF = ~132)
-Handloads - Berry's 100 gr (.380) over HP-38 (mouse fart loads)

At this point, I only have the 2 standard 10 round mags, one with the pinkie extension.

I put about 200 rounds downrange through the P365 without a single hiccup. It ate the HST +P rounds just as easily as the 100 gr mouse fart loads. Zero issues, smooth cycling, consistent patterns between all of the loads.

I was focussing on SD, so I put the target at 21 feet (7 yards). I wasn't really after any type of accuracy tests as such, but was more interested in functioning.

BUT...

Even though I was getting pretty tight groups for a sub-compact pistol (4" groups with an occasional flyer), all of my groups were about 5" low at 7 yards. UGH.

Now before anyone comments, yes, I understand that SIG uses a combat sight picture. Yes, I centered the dot over the bullseye.

This low shooting was consistent across all ammo types. Decent groups, but all low.

I also brought my P938 to compare, and of course I got great groups that were centered on bullseye. I understand that I am comfortable with the P938, and that it has a lot more rounds down the pipe, but the difference was stark.

Both guns were comfortable to shoot, and even without the 12-round extended mag (ordered, waiting on delivery), I was able to get a great, comfortable grip, and the P365 was a joy to shoot.

I rapid-fired a couple of mags, and everything functioned perfectly.

All-in-all, the P365 was a complete success in its debut, other than the low groups. I need to look into a different front (or rear) sight to see if I can bring the groups up a few inches.

Anyone else see this (other than those that don't understand the SIG sight picture)?

I’d contact Sig. i had the same issue with a Dan Wesson Guardian and learned they put the wrong front sight on it. They replaced the sight with the correct one at no cost.

I've had mine a few weeks. I also opted for the manual safety version. My experience is similar to yours except mine hits POA. I ordered two 12 round mags for it but haven't had a chance to shoot it with them yet. I've also had a chance t carry it a bit. Just came home from eating dinner out and it is still IWB. . I find it is just as comfortable as my 6 round G43. Not bad for 4 more rounds of ammo. It might be too big IWB with the 12 round mags, but I'll have to wait and see.

the 12 rd mags add about 3/16 " - 1 /4 " to the heel of the mag as compared to the 10 rd with the extension. The overall length of the two mags is about the same. THis is from memory, I only have the 12 rds handy at the moment.

⬆️This is exactly the same for me sans the manual safety.

My groups were off until I understood the combat sight matter. Both my P365 and P938 have #8 rear sights and #6 front sights. How do your sights compare, Doublehelix?

CDNN has the 12 round mags on sale now for $29.99 with $3.99 shipping for those who want some.

Personally don't care for manual safety but both of my 365 shoot low compared to other 9mm I have, including a 320.

So I called SIG Customer Support today. The guy was nice, but VERY condescending. He kept telling me that if I send it in, and there is nothing wrong with it, they will charge me something outrageous like $200 for range time/ammo and shipping, and that 8 out of 10 issues like this are user issues.

He asked me if it was my trigger control, and I told him that I was shooting a VERY tight group, just consistently low across 4 different ammo types and over 200 rounds. ALL LOW. He said I should test from a rest at 10 yards before sending it in just to be safe. Maybe the new trigger was making me shoot low, or whatever. I told him my P938 was shooting fine, as are all of my other guns, but he said that a striker fired gun is different than a hammer-fired gun. I agreed, and then told him that I have about 10,000 rounds through my P320 striker-fired gun, but he still said "it was probably me". I told him that I shoot my buddy's P365 just fine. He said it was still probably me. Whatever...

I gave up the back and forth and decided to take his advice and shoot from a rest at 10 yards, and then decide. It is probably good advice at the end of the day.

Curious if you noticed a difference between pinky extended magazine vs flush fit. I found I pulled my shots down with the extended magazine on my XDs. Shot fine with flush. I think I was anticipating recoil on the XDs and squeezing my hand.

Doesn’t happen on my P938 with the extended mag. I’m guessing because the recoil is nothing compared to the XDs 45. Not saying that’s necessarily the issue, especially since you shot your friend’s fine but am curious if you noticed any difference.

Wow...thanks for the report. I’ll stick with companies who give a dang about customers like Glock, Ruger, and CZ

I have zero issues with my 365 shooting POI/POA at 10 yards
Me either, but this is not the only report of this here.

The Sig guy might have thought he was doing you a favor telling you they would have to charge you if there is nothing "wrong".

Yup, until recently, I'd not read up on SIG's warranty, which is not very consumer-oriented. One has to pay shipping to the mothership, unlike Ruger. I have 3, but I doubt I'll ever purchase another SIG because of this.

I have ten or so, never had to send any in, so ... zero shipping cost to me :)

Here's my 2¢ on SIG customer service: If you don't like the things the rep is saying, call back later and speak to another rep. Also, as passive/aggressive as this might sound, go on sigforum.com and complain about your issue. I did that when I got a "That's normal, we can't/won't help you" response from one rep about a loose ambi safety lever on a P938. I was contacted via PM by another SIG rep who addressed my problem at no cost to me: sent a shipping label, etc. They monitor that forum, or at least used to.

I never mess with the sights on a new gun until I’ve had at least a few Range trips with it.
Sometimes it takes me a few trips before I get use to a gun, most of the time after that no adjustment is needed.

Same here. In fact, a buddy (who's a great pistol shot) and I recently shot both our 365s and my new 365 XL at 25 yards for an extended period just to see what we could do, and the results were amazing. Softball-sized groups (well, one of mine might have approached volley-ball sized) easily achieved off-hand with little effort. Next we're gonna try 'em from a rest just so we can really brag about 'em.

I personally cannot speak to SIG's customer service as, having owned at least 25 SIG pistols in the past twenty years, have never had to use it!
