Done research, searched threads but still can't find approximate pricing on this gun. Original finish, good condition small rust on barrel. Serial number of 777 matches. Guy is looking to trade then I will probably be looking to sell. Any information on pricing is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

If you are referring to the Auto 5 (the A5 is the current production model which owes nothing to John Browning) then that is a BIG question because the Auto 5 was in producton for so many years and in myriad variations. We would need some pictures to even come close to giving you an approximate value. One thing can be said for certain, they are excellent guns and I would strongly recommend shooting it before you decide to sell. Mine never fails to put a big smile on my face.:D

They were an expensive shotgun when I bought mine. I recall those who had Belgian made Auto Five's thought they were better than the Japanese made versions. Have to have pictures, caliber, condition, for any idea of its value.

Number 777 was made in 1903. While it’s certainly possible that’s what you have, it’s more likely you’ve omitted the letter prefix to the serial number.

http://www.nramuseum.org Has 777 as first year made for 12 ga. . (as said above).

Early 16 ga with photo and comments. https://forums.gunboards.com/showth...r-browning-A5-16-ga&highlight=belgium+shotgun May have to join to see photos ?

Price, my guess $600 to $800, tops Plus a premium at auction for the early serial number?? Condition is everything.

More then i would pay. Don't like to get pounded by the recoil. Gas guns for me.

Yup, I should have said 1903 if it’s a 12 gauge, 1909 if it’s a 16. But most likely
it’s from the ‘50’s and he left off the letter prefix. Unless it’s one of Browning’s new A5’s.

Great deal. Thank you so much for the info. He is saying the serial number is in two locations that match, but I have yet to see the actual gun. I already have a 20 gauge style that I do enjoy. Looking to trade my metal detecting stuff for it which is worth about $800 but he is also throwing in a double barrell flintlock/percussion cap conversion shotgun. Both are yet unseen.
