I’ve been carrying the Walther PPQ M2 in 9mm for the last year and it has become my go-to 9mm pistol these days, I’ve been shooting for a while and I’ve tried just about everything out there and the PPQ is just excellent, can’t recommend it enough.

Anybody else have one and if so what are your thoughts?

Here’s mine, I’ve added Traction Grips, fiber optic sights from Dawson Precision, and a Streamlight TLR-7 (excellent little light for CCW):

I have almost the exact same setup. Differences being P99 (father to the PPQ), in 40, and a TLR-8 with green laser. Same FO sights and grip texture.

A PPQ was rented months ago, and the very high quality impressed me.

Would be a superb carry gun, but I already owned three 9mm carry guns (two German, one Czech).
The basic Walther PPQ would be an excellent choice, even with no added gear (my guns are very basic).

Mine is my favorite polymer 9mm pistol out of many. I shoot it well (for an older guy) and it fits my hand well, which is probably part of the reason I shoot it well.

I don't carry anything that large, but if I did the PPQ would be high on my list of candidates.

Love it. We’re into buy another pistol, that would be high on my list. Actually looking to get a PPS M2 for the Mrs to upgrade her from a S&W Shield.

I own two M1s and carried one for a few years. During that time I took a couple multi-day defensive pistol classes with it. Never had an issue.

A few years ago I transitioned to an HK P2000 light LEM variant, so now my PPQs sit mostly in the safe.

I have a 4” M2 in 40 s&w and a 5” M2 in 9mm that both see carry time throughout the year. Both are great shooters with no problems to speak of

I carry a PPQ M2 .45 IWB. Love the gun. Perfect fit, finish and trigger. I find it easy to conceal for a full size .45.

Don't own one and I've never shot one. Everyone I know who had/does highly recommends it though. I handled one in a Cabela's, and I was very impressed with the ergonomics.

I carried my PPQ Mk 1 as my EDC for a couple of years before switching to my K6s 3”. Accurate, reliable and comfortable. The PPQ with a light on it is now my “bump in the night gun. It’s a great pistol!

Thoughts on Classic vs M2 series?

At first glance I felt Walther should’ve stayed with the paddle release because 1) combined with the slide stop lever on both sides it makes for a truly ambidextrous pistol and 2) it keeps continuity with the P99 by using the same magazines. But I’ve since decided that I actually prefer the button mag release because literally every other pistol I have uses the button mag release so why not on the PPQ?

One of my buddies bought the PPQ 45 after shooting my 9mm PPQ and liking it so much. I’m impressed with the 12+1 capacity while staying almost the same exact size as the 9mm version. The muzzle flip that people comment about on the 9mm model is not as prevalent in the PPQ in .45 in my experience comparing it to other .45 pistols so I think Walther did a great job with it.

I'm a secret admirer of the PPQ as I don't own one. I do own a PPS M2 which I like very much.

Want one of those. I am secretly and loudly hoping they will make one with the M1 style release.

I have never and will never prefer button style magazine releases that are on 99% of all firearms. With the paddle release on Walthers and HKs, I can drop a magazine with my middle finger of my shooting hand, with no grip change. With a kick out style reload, I could even reload a heel magazine release faster than a button.

Because a paddle release is better! :)
