OMG! WalMart to stop selling all handgun ammo!

All I can say is, Reload if you can, and stock up. This isn't getting any better, anytime soon.

Oh I understand the rationale behind it. I’ll understand my way right out of your stores.

My girlfriend works at walmart in the sporting good section...she was livid this morning when she told me about the policy change. I boycotted walmart a long time ago and have been trying to convinced her to move on to bigger and better things in her employment. This might be the straw that breaks the camels back

I have to drive past two Targets to get to a Walmart. It's a rare day when I can get something at Walmart that I can't get at Target, Home Depot or the grocery store.

I'm cleaning up my reloading/server room. Soon I'll be back to the point where I only need to buy carry ammunition. That's what gun shows and the internet are for.

Seems a bit hypocritical to me. They intend to sell existing stock. If they really cared, they’d stop sales immediately and either send the ammo back to their suppliers or destroy their on hand stock.

Anyway you slice it, whether a Walmart fan or not, it’s another chip off the 2nd.

Did all the boycotts that were virtue signaled after they took out the handguns, ARs, firearms at some stores produce a noticeable dip in sales or profits. Are you all now shopping at Nordstrom's and Whole Foods?

The economic demographics of their customer base will probably not be affected by this. The biggest impact is a cultural message of the less than pleasant odor of the gun owner. Like being a smoker.

It’s their right just as it is yours to not do business with them.

I don’t buy ammunition from them but did years ago, a specific lot of Winchester .22 ammunition.

Begs the question, what is “handgun ammunition”. Pretty much anything can be fired in handguns and lots of pistol caliber rifles out there as well. Stupid policies, I wonder if they are going to quit selling alcohol, violent video games and 10 gallon buckets of cheese balls to help “us” out as well? Hypocrisy....

Well I despise going in Wal-Mart anyway and since checking for any deals on ammo was one of the only things that made me wonder in there from time to time I don't really have reason to need to ever set foot in one again. I think I went in there and bought a brick of shotgun shells for dove season a year ago so it's been a year since I've been there anyway.

As others have stated its not only their choice to stop selling ammo, but their choice to get woke and lobby for gun control

It’s a shame the CEO specifically jumped on the anti rights wagon. I spend a lot of money at Walmart and this will change. I normally do not do boycotting but I’m certainly decreasing the amount I spend there. If they truly supply 20% of the nations ammo sales they claim, they will feel it.

Maybe their customer base changed or we were never in it? From what I seen from fellow rights enthusiasts, we have some purchasing power...something that any company would not want to alienate.

Some states, Missouri for one, Walmart can even sell hard liquor along with beer and wine.

I stopped even going to the Walmart ammo department when I joined "Target Sports". Heck, I could never get anyone to wait on me anyway. Now, I can buy just one box of ammo if I want and have it delivered to my door cheaper than they can sell it. Besides, I hate going into a Walmart anyway. Not much into listening to a bunch of screaming kids and their loud mouth Mother's anyway.
I will say one thing. One of the best fights I have ever seen took place in a Walmart. Busy day, long line. One cashier said something to the other one. and both left the register, walkout and got into. Took about 4 managers to break em apart.

The stores it’s going to hit the hardest are the ones in rural areas. The same ones that moved in and killed the mom and pop shops and offered perhaps more jobs, but crappy ones. It happened in the nearest town to me in rural Texas. I would like to see them close up shop and see the rebirth of mom and pop shops. Maybe there’s a silver lining to this. Not a fan of wal-Mart.

I heard this reported on Fox News .... er, perhaps I should call it Faux News. The report said Walmart is also stopping "short-barrel" ammo.

I've never heard that phrase before. Does it mean 5.56mm. and 7.62x39 .... or something else ....

Anyone know?

They are more concerned with making the woke crowd happy and actually believe thungs that trend on Twitter are real

*Yawn* I have never bought any ammo from Wal-Mart. Haven't ever bought a firearm their either. Prices for both are too high. And for the no carry bit, I wear this new thing called a shirt which makes open carry into concealed carry.

This isn't a gun control platform. They charged too much for ammo, and they know it. So now they are just cutting a business loss that wasn't making them much money anyway. One more straw in favor of loading more calibers for me anyway.

I believe they are only going to sell long barreled hunting weapons and the ammo that goes with them. Like 28" shotguns.

All handgun and 223 ammo will be gone

I guess I understand their position. Not everyone will agree....and I suspect they won't loose much money for this. I rarely buy ammo there [or anywhere, for that matter]. I DID pick up a great deal on 17HMR a few months back. $10/ box for one type, $9/box for another.

I guess I'm one of the few who could give a crap. This is no shock. Dick's, now Walmart. It is a sign of the times with all the shootings in the news. This isn't the end of it either.

If you don't reload, check out ammoseek.com you'll get better prices than Walmart and from a company that wants your business.

Well, I'd strongly disagree with you there, although it could be a regional issue. The Wal-Marts up here sell metric crap-tons worth of ammo daily. Also, WM is consistently one of, if not, the cheapest retail (store-front) source of (most calibers of) ammo on the West Coast, particularly up in the PNW.

This will save me money. No more Federal Syntech Defense at $11.47 per box of 20. They did have good price on Federal 115gr 9mm FMJs brass case at $7.97 per 50.

I go to Whole Foods whenever I need good sausage and bagels. Walmart isn't even on my radar for that. I also pick up my firearms and photography related Amazon purchases there.
