IMG_4738.JPG 1945 Remington Rand 1911A1 with M1 carbine Camillus bayonet. Was going through a box of dads badges today he collected while in the army. Included in the photo his personal Gary Owen unit and combat infantryman badge earned while in Korea. A couple of photos of him, posing with a M1 or M2 carbine in Korea and a photo of him (far right lefty shooter) on the pistol team he shot competition pistol in the army.

That’s some old school goodness right there. My dad was a combat engineer in Korea. He carried an M3 grease gun. I have some cool pictures of him when he was there. I’ll have to dig a few out and post them.

Thanks for the great photos of your Dad and the M3 Grease Gun he was issued! During basic training my Dad used an M3 on the combat obstacle course and scored really well with it. He was issued an M1 and shot Expert with it but on any field exercises (like one of those 10 mile hikes out into the country side), he would trade a pack of cigarettes with one of the cooks and take along their M1 Carbine instead!

Jack Ryan---be careful---it looks like one of the cartridges in the box has the primer reversed.
