A few pics of my officer's length American Classic Amigo: 20180318_170244.jpg 20170815_181445.jpg 20170305_153317.jpg 20151125_101227.jpg
It has been a good one, it shoots good, and carries easily. I carry it quite often in a custom kydex iwb.
I hardly recommend it to my thr friends. It is okay, but I can see some peaning on internal parts and premature wear. I dont think this one will stand up to a great deal of shooting.
I replaced the recoil spring when I got it, and it has been very reliable with factory ammo. It doesnt seem to like my reloads though. It seems to have a tight chamber.

I carry my wife's SA 1911 OACP n 9mm. Not a tight as my S&W 1911s, but reliable. Th e"factory" mags are Chip McCormick and have a tendency for the bitty lip that activates the slide stop to bend and no activate the slide stop. Easy fix to bend back into shape.

Still, I MUCH prefer the Wilson Combat 8, 9, and 10 round mags I have bought for it the last few years. No issues whatsoever.

so, with the S&W Shield, Glock 43, Sig 320 and all the other slim compact service caliber guns out there, who actually carries as their every day gun an officers model 1911?
Not me. I carry a Commander sized 1911.

Me.too, but the capt and I are old.:p

Carry mine full confidence over 2K rounds and not one hiccup. I know this is not really the case with some other

I use ONLY Megar mags or chip McCormack.

124 gr FMJ OR Golden Sabre.

Nice gun Doc, congrats. What a coincidence. Just watched the Movie Hamburger Hill for about the 10th time. And them always go back and look up the history. Glad to see you enjoying that nice 1911. Bravo to you.

I favorite carry 1911 is my Colt New Agent in 45ACP. Strictly a carry , doesn't have conventional sights like the Defender but a trench down the center of the slide , came With CT Laser grips . Just love shooting it 50 rounds each week . It's 100% reliable recoil is about the same as a full size , the only thing I changed was the recoil assembly to the stronger single flat spring assembly by EGW. The original assembly worked fine but looked like the weakest link . Anyone thinking of buying a 3" 1911 you won't be disappointed . I even went custom on a holster . Great gun deserves a great holster.

One of my EDCs is a Colt Officer's Model ACP ( The other is a full size).

Mines got a reduced radius Firing Pin Stop ( I do this on all 1911s), an EGW full length guide rod and flat wire spring, and is shockingly smooth shooting, 100% reliable. Most of the parts have been replaced with Wilson Combat Bulletproof parts in SS, and it's got Triticon sights and Crimson Trace Grips. 20180610_095737.jpg

I'll be working this into a carry pistol soon. Haven't had it long, and only 300-400 rounds through it. a variety of everything on the shelf put through it. All 100%. It's a 9mm STI Elektra. Only change has been to put wood STI logo grips on it. For just shooting fun though, I like my Desert Eagle 1911C ( 45 ACP ) more. IMG_1021 (1).jpg
