NASCAR has taken another step in the alienation of its core supporting audience. First they banned the Confederate flag, now this....

"We just heard from NASCAR on a number of gun related ads and unfortunately, due a gradual shift in NASCAR’s position on guns, these ads must be edited/changed—especially those that are depicted as assault-style rifles/sniper rifles. "

Good lord! Another great sport follows the NFL, NBA et. al. into suicide on the altar of Political Correctness!

Kiss my grits!

I am not surprised they now have this stance toward guns. I was a huge fan for years but when Bill France Jr. retired and left it to his son things changed and they have been abandoning their original fan base every since. I still watch most of the races but with no where the interest I used to and I have wondered how much longer I would even do that. Attendance is way down from past years. I am sure the left would like to kill it altogether and maybe they will be able to.

Remember the NRA sponsored race at Texas after Sandy Hook. The coverage tried to downplay the NRA sponsorship as much as possible.

I can't help but notice that they added "Sniper Rifles" to the mix. I knew it was coming sooner or later, but not from the "rednecks" in NASCAR!! Kind of like Wal Mart banning "Short- barrel Rifle" ammunition. Just add , or make up, a new "scary" name, and the sheeple will follow

The NRA is mad because Richard Childress (a prominent NASCAR team owner) was critical of LaPierre's spending and recently resigned from the board. Note these are only allegations by the NRA - nothing actually confirmed. The NRA has sponsored a race for a number of years; Bass Pro Shops is a prominent team sponsor; Henry Repeating Arms sponsors a race and was primary sponsor on a car at that race. This smells like an NRA smear job to me.

I haven't paid attention to " The wheels on the bus go round and round" since I was kid. Although it seems to have a following if you like driving counter clockwise a couple hundred miles and go nowhere..

Kinda makes you wonder what they will say when some new "green deal" goes through someday, and they will have to give up their fossil fuels?
If I’m not mistaken, they already run E-85. From their new BS points system to this, I’d much rather watch NHRA. In fact, if I watch any racing, NHRA is what I watch. For sure won’t be going back now.

What's NASCAR?

I watched parts of some races when I was younger, found it boring. If I were to watch it at all, it would probably be a race at Watkin's Glen or Lime Rock where it's a road course with left and right turns, not an oval. But I won't.

My thoughts are that their core audience is mostly blue collar, so let's piss them off by taking an anti-gun stance. Makes sense to me.

Never did get into the whole NASCAR scene; use to Formula 1 racing instead.

Oh well thanks to those being PC just one less thing to watch on TV.

Circle driving...…………. Next up on ESPN2 is the world championship of watching paint dry.

I don't understand why there is any surprise that certain companies and industries that are distancing themselves from firearms. They don't care about the minority fan base, and that's us. They care about remaining marketable in the future and continuing to make money. Obviously their liberal antigun fan base is larger than the conservative pro-gun one, and that's what they see as their future market.

These decisions are based on money and future profit, or political leanings, which is also based on money and future profit.
