Is it worth getting a Colt Python reblued?

I really know nothing about Pythons.

I have an original Colt 1911 from year 1947. The collectors tell me a reblue will change my $ 2,000 collectable into a $ 500 shooter.
I bought a Colt Model 1917 WWI revolver that had been refinished for $ 500. I still have a piece of history, but it will always be worth $ 500.
I love and enjoy both guns. As long as you have all the info, make the decision that pleases YOU best.

I purchased a 4" Python about 2004 from a pawnshop. Blueing was probably 70% and it didn't have the correct grips. Shot it and used it for 2 years before sending it to Colt in 2006.

Can't remember what I paid for it but what I got back was a thing of beauty. Colt will not only reblue but replace worn parts and go over the gun. They did a fantastic job on the pistol, it was so nice I rarely shot it anymore. It looked just like it left the factory with a beautiful deep blue. After about 6 years someone made me an offer for the gun that I could not refuse.

Would I have a gun reblued? Heck yes, in a heart-beat I would. But I would only let the factory do it.

I wish I had pictures before and after. I do but not sure where.

Depends on what you mean by "worth it".
If you're trying to sell - no, rebluing is a big no-no.
If you're keeping it, then only you can decide if you wanna reblue.

I know, it's not much of an answer.
Just my 2¢ worth.

Not much of an answer, but the best answer.
As has been said, if the gun is in terrible shape, then rebluing will probably make it worth more, but you still would have a hard time recouping your cost when selling it.
For collector value you will have done nuttin' but diminish value. Especially of the gun is only slightly holster worn.
For your own personnel satisfaction of having a Python in beautiful condition, then you need to weight the cost of the reblue against that desire.
As for cold blue or the magic marker trick......IMHO, that looks worse than very minor holster wear.
