~17 years ago when I took advantage of the 624rd cases of '91 Danish AMA M2 Ball ammo loaded in enblocs & bandos that Dan's Ammo had in-stock, I also got one 600rd case of '62 Danish AMA M2 Ball ammo loaded in 5rd strippers & bandos.

Does anyone here know for sure whether or not the primer compound in the 1962 M/48 rounds is chlorate ("corrosive") in nature?

1962 is, roughly, a decade after the US stopped using chlorate primers in their small arms ammo, but I do not know if the Danes had followed suit by 1962.

Thanks.

Oh, and please, no responses telling me how easy it is to (pre)clean the "corrosive salts" as I already know all about it. :)

If I can determine that this ammo sports "non-corrosive" primers I intend to use some in a project with a unique and verrrry-finely frosted bore on an M1917 Eddystone.

It is not corrosive in the least.. and some of the best ammo out there... If you are a doubting Thomas needing proof.. pop a few rounds is a bolt action gun count a week and look...

Definitely not corrosive. I bought a bunch of both the ball and their match ammo (in 30 round carboard boxes) probably around the same time you did. Good ammo, clean, shot well. NOT boxer primed. Broke a decapping pin since didn't occur to me to look inside the cases before running through the press. Think I still have some of the match ammo around somewhere - will have to search through the cans later.

IMO, under normal conditions without a reliable, well-made/-designed hydraulic decapper, it is too too much of a PITA ...

... and I actually have 5k LR Berdan primers on-hand ... so I save my empty Berdan rifle cases that sport that size primer. ;)

Oh its a PITA ...

Thanks for the info. I also still have just shy of 3 cases of the AMA 91 enbloc ammo remaining. :)

Seems to me (IIRC) this ammo cost me between 25¢-29¢, delivered.

Actually, it is the "reason" (;)) that I "had to" buy my first M1 ... I had the many cases of enbloc'd ammo in the basement so it was only reasonable & logical that I should get an M1 with which to shoot it.

Oh ... and while I was at it, I had that case full of the AMA 62 on 5rd strippers so I realized that should also buy some 03s, 03A3s, M1917s, etc. :D

I ended up stocking up on other flavors of M2 milsurp so some of my original AMA managed to survive to this point.
