I'm looking to buy a case of cheapish 223 ammo. Currently there are several options in the 30 cents per round range.

In this category people usually recommend wolf gold.

My question is this: has anyone noticed any of these cheaper ammos that are markedly more accurate than another or is it worth it to go up to 50 cents per round for consistent 1.5 moa.?

Is hornady frontier still having issues or is it worth the additional 10 cents/round?

Are there any options in the 40 ish cents per round category that are just plain more accurate or consistent.

I haven't bought much factory ammo because I reload so I'm behind the curve a bit.

I dont know what IMI is running these days, I would guess .35-.40 per round still. That is hands down the most accurate out of my guns. Especially the 69 grain but the 55gr is also very accurate...

No but regular wolf MC shoots surprisingly well in my 10.5 and other guns. It seems to be finicky in alot of guns accuracy wise but they shoot similar to PMC and Federal .223 out of my guns

If your local Wal-Mart has any left, mine still have plenty, they are selling Winchester 200 rd. 55 gr. for $58.00 or just over .30 ea. after tax. Same for Federal 55 gr. Both non-magnetic FMJ and brass case, not sealed but 'mil-spec' primers so safe in ARs. Plus you can get te rebate on Federal until the end of the month - .03/rd. on 55gr. So net $.28/.29 .per rd. I havent seen it much cheaper even in bulk.

At one time I would've just gone to wal mart but I will no longer. I'll keep it at that.

I have to admit. I have have been buying wal mart ammo. They are selling 200 rd winchester for $57 and 100 rd Federal for $29.97. Also 20rd 124gr 9mm Golden Saber for $14. I hate doing it but I will soon cease purchasing anything from them....

I purchased some 62gr IMI and have found it accurate and dependable, seems a little hotter than some 55gr i purchased yrs ago. Check ammo seek or gun.deals and you can find some around .26 or .27, usually if you pay shipping it is about the same as taxes when purchasing locally, I showed LGS price on 5 boxes 303 and he matched the price.

Barring a flash sale or other short window liquidation, $.30/ea or less is typically 55gr FMJBT territory. At that price point, PMC, Norma, or Fiocchi would be my preferences. If the deciding factor is consistently attaining 1.5 moa, it will be difficult to recommend an ammo that will do that in your rifle. No one will be able to say how your rifle will shoot with a given ammo. Generically, you would want to get away from FMJ's to attain it. It is easy for someone to say, "Just buy ____ ammo." that is no where near the budget. However, if you can find sales on Fiocchi V-max products (50 or 55gr), they may be slightly over the budget on sale, but something that could meet 1.5 moa or less in most rifles. There may be a lot of suggestions for 68gr - 75gr products if your rifle prefers those.

For accurate blaster ammo, it's hard to beat the Hornady 55 fmjbt. If it's not that, I will only buy 55sp. Any of the soft point ammo is around 1.5 moa in a decent gun.
My gun prefers Fiocchi ammo if I'm going to buy match ammo.

Check out targetsports.com bought 1000 rds from them not to long ago. Can't remember price but it was decent. And if you buy federal they have a rebate going. I believe it's $.03 a rnd. Just looked it's $400.00. max. Federal1000 rnd 289.00 free shipping. 1000 rnds of Tula is $199.00 free shipping.

Thank you all for the input.
I bought some steel case wolf, hornady frontier, and fiocchi from sportsman guide along with some steel case 9mm.

I am cautiously optimistic about the hornady frontier. I have heard it is accurate but there were also issues a couple years ago.
