Just visiting, wheelgunners! I had one of these years ago, and I kind of miss it. Not really a revolver fan, but I have several that are safe queens (a Python, a Smith 19 which is my first handgun I've owned over 30 years, 2 US m1917's- you get the idea) I picked up this barely used SP101 for $360 OTD a couple weeks back. I shot it and it was just like the last one (loud). I figured that I can't go wrong with a stainless hand cannon like this. It will be a good piece to carry on a boat in the gulf, or maybe stuff some snake shot in when I fish around the pond since cottonmouths hang out there so much. In the meantime, it has taken up residence in a small drawer in my tool chest under some rags in my very damp and humid garage- just in case.

Nice score! What a great price. I own the same spurless model. The trigger was a little gritty and stiff so I installed new hammer and trigger springs. That made a big difference, as it is now glass smooth with a light trigger.

I think you got yourself a pretty good gun!

Hope you enjoy it. I am a revolver guy. Have never liked the SP-101, but I was always looking at them in 22 rimfire. To me, the gun is too heavy to carry and I won't carry a 357 mag for self defense. But for your uses, I think you're SP works. I have a 3" GP-100 that I like but I won't carry it concealed. 38spl is where I'm at for carry mostly.... Carry a 41 mag sometimes "out and about" in the woods. But I have to really want to carry it as it is also heavy. 41 Mags were my choice for whitetail hunting over the 357 mag (6" Python was my first) until I decided that I wanted something a bit bigger than 41 mag for that purpose.

It’ll do all you ask of it, for a lot longer than you’ll be able to use it. My .38 SP is a tough little gun for sure.

A very good gun, great price!

Stay safe.

Sweet revolver for general use. Sounds like youre planning to subject her to a rough life, interested to see an update photo in a couple years of saltwater fishing and damp garage storage. Ive had good luck with rugers stainless, ive had very bad luck with some stainless guns from another maker (sig :what:). A week out of the safe, stored in the house and out of a holster ( in northern illinois) would produce rust freckles over its entire surface no matter what i did to prevent it. It was just one of those guns i guess.
Good luck, the sp101 isnt fancy or very refined but will serve you for a lifetime of brutal use. I want one too.

Nice SP101 at a great price. I've got the same model(5720) I picked up 2 months old for $450. I'm very happy with it after a 10# Wolff mainspring hammer/hammer dog shims made the trigger silky smooth, light and 100% reliable through 1000 rounds. To protect from sweat and salt air/water, Renaissance wax used sparingly will help. It's non abrasive and only $15 for more than you're likely to ever need. Just a little on your finger tip to apply and buff out.
