It seems that there's always some member who's amazed that we don't have to do/follow what they thought was "normal".

So here's a thread about living in Free America in regards to firearms.

1. We don't need a state issued card to buy firearms or ammunition.

2. We have no waiting or cooling off period to take a firearm home.

3. We don't need a Government permission slip to carry a firearm.

4. If a Government permission slip to carry it's shall issue.

5. In many areas that require a permission slip it substitutes as the background check when we buy a firearm.

6. We have no restrictions on features, capacity, or what we buy. No state approved lists.

7. The only paperwork required is when we buy from a licensed dealer and the ONLY form required is the Federal 4473.

8. We don't need a Government permission slip to buy a firearm. No begging for permission, and no tithe to the King.

9. No background checks to buy ammunition.

10. No restrictions on what we buy, whom we buy it from, and it can be shipped to us as long as we follow Federal law.

11. We can own suppressors, SBRs, SBSs. select fire, and destructive devices.

12. Guns aren't "registred" to a person. added because I just thought about it.

If I missed anything please feel free to list it.

And when we lose those freedoms, it is because the majority wished to lose them, or didn't care enough to try to keep them.
It's because the majority puts its safety above its freedom.

Some of the Founders warned about this. But they lived in unstable times. We've gotten lazy and comfortable. Freedom doesn't mean as much to us now as our creature comforts do.

10 years ago Washington was in the top 5 most gun friendly states, easily beating Texas for gun rights. Then we started trucking in the left to stuff out ballot boxes. Now we're out of the top 20. Crime is up, Taxes are up, three counties just found out the "only applies to the rich tax" applies to near everyone, and they're going crazy over it. Texas is doing the exact thing that we did. Make sure you keep people voting, we have about 12% voter turn out here. Every anti-rights bill or politician could have easily been beat if people got off the couch (you don't even have to leave your yard to vote)

Maine is a free state presently but there is a push to UBC again. Things can change like the wind so never stop reminding YOUR elected officials of your position on the 2A often. Educate those that are on the fence and take someone to the range when the opportunity arises. Always vote!!

There has not been a documented case of voters trucked in to Washington State. Hyperbole does not serve us well.

Most know the Tree of Liberty quote. The entire context only adds to it.

From Thomas Jefferson to William Stephens Smith, 13 November 1787
To William Stephens Smith

Paris Nov. 13. 1787.

Dear Sir

I am now to acknolege the receipt of your favors of October the 4th. 8th. and 26th. In the last you apologize for your letters of introduction to Americans coming here. It is so far from needing apology on your part, that it calls for thanks on mine. I endeavor to shew civilities to all the Americans who come here, and who will give me opportunities of doing it: and it is a matter of comfort to know from a good quarter what they are, and how far I may go in my attentions to them.—Can you send me Woodmason’s bills for the two copying presses for the M. de la fayette, and the M. de Chastellux? The latter makes one article in a considerable account, of old standing, and which I cannot present for want of this article.—I do not know whether it is to yourself or Mr. Adams I am to give my thanks for the copy of the new constitution. I beg leave through you to place them where due. It will be yet three weeks before I shall receive them from America. There are very good articles in it: and very bad. I do not know which preponderate. What we have lately read in the history of Holland, in the chapter on the Stadtholder, would have sufficed to set me against a Chief magistrate eligible for a long duration, if I had ever been disposed towards one: and what we have always read of the elections of Polish kings should have forever excluded the idea of one continuable for life. Wonderful is the effect of impudent and persevering lying. The British ministry have so long hired their gazetteers to repeat and model into every form lies about our being in anarchy, that the world has at length believed them, the English nation has believed them, the ministers themselves have come to believe them, and what is more wonderful, we have believed them ourselves. Yet where does this anarchy exist? Where did it ever exist, except in the single instance of Massachusets? And can history produce an instance of a rebellion so honourably conducted? I say nothing of it’s motives. They were founded in ignorance, not wickedness. God forbid we should ever be 20. years without such a rebellion. The people can not be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. We have had 13. states independant 11. years. There has been one rebellion. That comes to one rebellion in a century and a half for each state. What country before ever existed a century and half without a rebellion? And what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it’s natural manure. Our Convention has been too much impressed by the insurrection of Massachusets: and in the spur of the moment they are setting up a kite to keep the hen yard in order. I hope in god this article will be rectified before the new constitution is accepted.—You ask me if any thing transpires here on the subject of S. America? Not a word. I know that there are combustible materials there, and that they wait the torch only. But this country probably will join the extinguishers.—The want of facts worth communicating to you has occasioned me to give a little loose to dissertation. We must be contented to amuse, when we cannot inform. Present my respects to Mrs. Smith, and be assured of the sincere esteem of Dear Sir Your friend & servant,

Th: Jefferson

PrC (DLC).

You are correct, there is not, however there is a case of out-of-state funding supporting initiatives (see the funding sources behind I-1639 for an example).

Because of how the state’s initiative system works, I consider that nearly as effective.

Sooner or later I imagine there will be initiatives along the lines of “taxes” as a measure designed to limit ownership and enjoyment of our hobbies.

Current tax rates on guns and ammunition is enough to limit the enjoyment of anyone on a tight budget. I deem the current rate unfair. Its unfair targeting of the entire industry when few other industries are subject to that level of taxation.

It's already happening. Elizabeth Warren is proposing a 30% tax on guns and a 50% tax on ammunition (up from the current 10% tax). And this is considered "moderate" by Democratic standards.

Yup nowhere is immune.
I would have said since it can happen anywhere, it can happen in Virginia.

I’m trying to be facetious here (don’t know which emoticon to use for “facetious”) but what about being a little optimistic about the situation? I mean, just like several other states, a few years back Idaho went to a type of “constitutional carry” from a “shall issue” state. And open carry has been legal in Idaho since before my dad was born, and I’m 71.
So the situation is improving here, right? Well, if the situation can improve here, it can improve anywhere, can’t it? I don’t really believe that, but I’d like to.;)

It CAN happen in Virginia because of the all the Liberals in Northern Virginia Cities and suburbs. The majority rules and the city dwellers will soon have the majority.
This is why we need the electoral college.
The same is happening in Texas, starting w/Austin. I suspect this movement is taking place nation wide.

This is why we need the electoral college.

Regards,
hps
