Question is regarding above sight mounted on Winchester 3030 model 94 with factory drilled holes on receiver. From my info, this sight was made to fit a Ruger rifle. Also it seems to be a discontinued sight.
A friend had an old FP RSS peep sight lying around, (which looks very similar to the 5D or FP 94/36) , and said I could have it, and it should mount on my 3030.
I have mounted the FP RSS on my 3030 , and it fits perfectly on receiver etc, and seems to line up with centre of barrel and front sight . (I have not done any shooting as yet)..

The advertised Williams sights to mount on a Winchester model 94, (with factory drilled holes on receiver), are the 5D or FD 94/36.
So my question is ,, are the Williams peep sights absolutely gun specific to work correctly , or can I use a Williams peep not advertised to mount on a Winchester 94, (ie, the FP RSS), which mount, fit and operate, all things being equal to the advertised 5D or FP 94/36 sights,, or will I be wasting my time, because of sighting in problems not using the correct advertised Williams model peep ????

Uploaded pic is the Williams FP RSS ..

Is it steel or aluminium? I had bad experience with the latter as it walks. Steel is steady and if you can find an old Lyman 48 or Redfield, go that route instead (if the Williams is alumiium).

Just an update ...
As mentioned above , mounted the Williams FP- RSS model peep sight.. It did look a touch high on the receiver with elevation down to the lowest level , (from pics off the net compared to the FP- 94/36 ).. I thought this could cause troubles if shooting high, with no way of lowering the elevation... Also the windage scale was to the left of centre when lined up with the barrel and front sight, but still plenty of adjustment left....

Off and do some shooting .....
My plan was to start at 25 yards and zero at 50 ... To my surprise it was shooting low , (2-3 inches), at 25 .. This was good news, as mentioned above, I could not go any lower... Windage was within 1 inch ... Played around with the clicks to hit dead on at 25 yards... Out to 50 yards ,, played with the clicks and could hit a 4 inch target all day...(Fine tuned POI to be approx one inch high at 50 yards).

Summary ,,,, The mounting holes for the FP RSS are in different locations than the FP 94/36 . (That being the case,, it mounted ok ,, and shot ok )..
The FP RSS was no doubt made for a rifle , (Ruger), with a wider receiver . (Explaining the windage scale left of centre on the Winchester).
In the end , it was an exercise in trying something ,, and it worked for me ....
Cheers ....
