So this happens in Chicago and the NY Post reports it? Something seems wrong right there. Was this reported in any Chicago papers? Not that Chicago MSM are any better but, hope springs eternal.

My years on the street taught me that the results of an armed encounter on the street are so random and unpredictable that they should be avoided at all costs - unless you have no other choice.

In that moment it’s simply kill or be killed - and the good guy doesn’t always win. If you survive, that moment will mark you for life.

Like I said, I’ll engage with a firearm or other weapon when I have no other choice. Your actual tactics in that moment will be more important than whatever weapon you have.

Gun grabbers will spin this as "he would still be alive if he just allowed himself to be robbed." Just look how "for his own protection" is in quotes in the article.

My thought, better to go down fighting than to be shot in a robbery.

Obviously the bad guys had a vast advantage in terms of superior numbers and weapons already drawn. The information in the article is scant ; none of us witnessed the incident.
My reflex is to speculate as to whether the victim , aka good guy , had any options other than the one he chose , but I will refrain for the forementioned reasons.

Seems to me that we do not have a real second by second analysis of what happened?

Was he still under threat? Could he have left the scene? - We don't know.

What we are getting is speculation and virtue signaling. So until we get more info, I'm closing this. If someone sees a real analysis, let staff know and we can reopen.
