I'm planning a build for a buddy. He has very acidic skin- seems like any part he touches wants to rust quickly, even if oiled. Do they make stainless steel or aluminum or polymer AR lower parts, like mag release, safety selector, bolt release lever, etc?

Some parts are available in Titanium and polymer but not all. The parts could be coated with a special coatings/platings if you had too. Have no idea of the cost related though. I use Ti safeties and a few others dressings.

There are ATI polymer lowers with metal inserts, stainless pins, anodized aluminum levers and buttons, the different colors look good especially if you have engraving highlighted.

maybe I am missing something, but why would you worry about a coated aluminum receiver rusting? really the only steel parts that could rust are going to be internal, barrel, trigger, mag release and bolt release. I would get a full length handguard to keep him off the barrel and if he wears the finish off of the small lower parts enough to cause them to rust, you are talking about maybe $20 worth of new coated parts.

I purchased 2 ATI polymer lowers at a salvage store fairly cheap, maybe build a pistol lower, the red anodized pins and red, green and white highlights looked good on a friends AR, I like the fire/safe highlighted. He also has a anodized charging handle that stands out

Off the top of my head; dust cover pin/spring/c-clip and magazine catch are the parts exposed that I’ve not seen offered in anything other than steel.

You can get aluminum or Cerakote dust covers, anno forward assists, end plates, selectors, trigger guards, etc. Ti or SS gas block, SS barrel, NiB coated BCG. A lot of possibilities.

Between titanium and Nickel boron coated i think you can get most every lower part in a rust resistant form.

I've carried and used M16s and M4s in some awful environments including humid jungles and exposed to salt water and never saw any corrosion issues.

Lanolin stops rust. Mix it with light gun oil and use that for lube
Maybe use a bit of lanolin on his hands before shooting
