Anyone have suggestions for dealing with a new/tight over/under? I know it will get better with use, but it's tight to the point of being difficult to use and my son has practice in a few days. Gunoil? Antiseize?

Thanks.

High pressure bearing grease on the pivots and ends of the cocking levers and any other sliding contacts will help a lot.

Then go shoot it a lot that will help more.

RIG grease on parts that rotate, oil on parts that slide. So oil on ejectors, grease on trunions, choke tubes, hinge pins, etc.
What gun is it?

@George P 686 Sporting.

It's been a while since I've handled a new o/u and was surprised how tight it is. That's just out of the box, it's not been cleaned or lubed yet.

Thanks.

Better real tight than real loose!:thumbup::D
Clean it, including the choke tubes threads, relube and go enjoy it!

Cleaned, lubed, greased what needed greasing and worked back and forth several times. Feels much better.

Thanks for the help gentlemen.

That’ll become a sweet shooter after a few cases of shells :thumbup:.

Let us know how your son does with the new shotgun :).

Stay safe.

He did pretty good. He shot 10 shells in the yard yesterday evening. Took him twice to figure out how to hold it to not get hulls to the face. Shot four rds of skeet today. Pretty good, but let a few get by. Gal throwing the clays got on his butt and made him cover the hulls and extract by hand. I was shooting an auto and she didn't say anything to me, but made him snap to and put those hulls in the bucket. :-D

He likes it and will hopefully take good care of it. Thanks everyone for the help.
