I'm looking for a replacement ammo for my WM 9mm "Champion 115 gr FMJ RN" brass-cased ammo that I can't get any longer at WM, for obvious reasons. (And let's not get into a discussion of that in this thread.)
The ballistics are 1125 fps and 323 ft-lbs. at the muzzle. Apparently the Federal Champion was a brand made exclusively for WM, because I cannot find it anywhere else. (The product number is WM 51991 in the 100-round packs, so that's a bit of a giveaway.)
The American Eagle and the Winchester White Box are both hotter, so they are out.
However ... I did come across a Federal "Ultra Target & Range" from some online suppliers that has the same specs at the muzzle.
So, I am thinking it's the same thing.
Is it a fair bet that it's the same ammo? I would doubt Federal was making this stuff just for WM and would walk away from that market, but just curious what you think. I don't want to buy 1,000 rounds of this stuff (minimum I can find) and then be disappointed.
Thanks

Is it aluminum cased?

Sorry, forgot to note that it is the brass-cased version, not the aluminum-cased. I've edited my question accordingly.

Thanks for the recommendation, but not interested. The Range Pack has same specs as the WWB, which I don't want. My guns prefer the Federal Champion, so that's the replacement I'm looking for, with the same ballistics. But thanks anyway.

Can you mail order? If so, go to TargetSportsUSA and buy by the case for free shipping. I buy CCI/Speer in 115 and 124 like that and the costs run about .17/round

Cabela's and Bass Pro have their Herter's brand for $9.99/box if you live near one.

That's the same as my brass cased Federal from Walmart.

The cheaper Aluminum Federal was my favorite, only see Blazer stuff occasionally on sale for the roughly $8/box that Walmart had.

Thanks Charlie Horse, after I posted I did find these sites, and as you note, they are all out of it. Hopefully Federal will replenish their stocks. Or I may try the Federal Ultra I referenced in my post, if need be.

Thanks Pat Riot. Maybe that will be my backup, if I can't get the Federal. No rush for now, but just want to be sure I have some options.

Thanks ArchAngel, makes me feel a bit better. Guess I'll just wait until it becomes available again.
Thanks to all for your comments and suggestions.

Check another Wal-Mart. There is plenty here and they have restocked. They say they are selling it until warehouses and supply chain are gone and honoring contracts. They may have 6 months left on a contract with Federal or Winchester, who knows.. I heard, 2nd hand, say take it for what it's worth that along with shotgun & hunting rifle ammo, they will still carry 357 & 44 magnum because they sell lever action rifles in those calibers. I would assume they will continue with 22 since its 22 Long Rifle ammunition

Just another reason I love Target Sports. I can buy multiple boxes of different ammo weights and Manufacturers to try out and most at bulk rate prices with free shipping. Heck, if you want to buy just one box of ammo at bulk rate price and shipped right to your door you can. I use to just buy one brand of Bulk rate ammo for the free shipping. Now I buy many different ones to try out. In fact, just bought some 124 gr and wanted to try out some 147 gr from a different manufacture, so no big deal.

Here in the DFW area, the old red/black 9mm is S&B loaded (very good) the new brown box (w/Bass Pro also listed on the box) is Winchester according to the local store

We have an Academy store right by a Walmart here. I think the 2 stores competed on ammo prices. Both carried a lot of Federal ammo, my guns seem to like the aluminum ammo and Walmart always had it a little cheaper.
I don't know if you have any stores like Academy, Bass Pro, Dunham's, Cabels's, etc. But it will be interesting to see if any of them change their inventory to pick up more brands that Walmart used to carry. I'm also hoping that prices don't go up, since they don't have to compete with Walmart anymore.

Our own @bikerdoc is one of the internet order guys at The Armory in Va Beach. They have bulk MagTech brass cased, 115 gr @ 1135 fps - https://www.the-armory.com/shopsite...15gr-fmj-magtech-ammo-battle-pack-500rds.html. 10 fps is within the margin of error for chronograph calibration, so it's probably identical in terms of real world use. They also have S&B 115 gr @ 1237 fps - https://www.the-armory.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/9mm-115gr-fmj-sellier-bellot-500-round-bp.html, so again, less 10% hotter, and I doubt you'd notice any difference in real world use.

My guns also preferred the Federal stuff from Walmart. I stocked up a little once they announced and have around 700 rounds. I also found that the Remington UMC mentioned earlier is also very accurate and is what I used for GSSF matches for 9mm. I reloaded my match ammo in .40 S&W, but for 9mm, the UMC was nearly as accurate and much easier/cheaper for me.

I see... I was wondering who was making the USA sourced 9mm. I liked the black/red Herter's select that was imported.

The new USA Herter's, if it is Winchester, makes me laugh cuz the brass looks like knock off starline brass with it's markings

I would look at CCI.

my fav was champion aluminum since I shoot in the backyard and don’t pick up brass

read somewhere that both aluminum cased ammo came from same factory so maybe brass does also.
