I have bought several Lipsey's guns over the years and never had a problem. So I had an idea of a light weight packing 45 and sent my suggestion to Lipsey's. Not only did they respond but we had a discussion on what was feasible. I was impressed a big company like Lipsey's would be interested in an out of the blue email. Good for them.

What was your idea and what did you guys decide would be feasible?

Yep I think Lipsey's had customer relations figured out. I want a 45 Colt in about the same weight range as a Freedom Arms 97 3.5 " barrel. Libpey's has looked at doing that and decided there is an issue of mating the SS frame with the Al. grip and making the gun look 'right'. I do not think we are going to see one soon.

Ruger, I assume. You can buy the stainless gun and have a gunsmith fit the aluminum grip frame which can be bought from Brownells. It would look odd for a production gun but you can have a custom anyway you like.

can't they make and stainless steel anodized aluminum grip frame? probably too difficult to match the color. how about brass, or gold color frame? black might look good with stainless.

oh well, lipsey's is, at least, trying. I sure would like to see a light weight medium frame stainless steel 45 cal. blackhawk on the market, too.

On a Ruger forum I just saw the difference in New Vaquero and older Vaquero .45 Colt Cylinder wall thickness ! I think Ruger has about hit the limit in the 6 shot Vaquero .45 Colt. So I ordered my Birdshead New Voquero 3.75" in .44 Magnum !!!!

I had a similar good experience with them when suggesting a .32-20 Single Seven. I was told the frame is to small to accommodate a cylinder long enough for .32-20. So I asked for another run of the Blackhawks with the 32-20 and .327 Mag cylinders. I got no definite response but maybe they will do it.
