I have a feeling it should be called the "abuse of law abiding gun owners and gun confiscation forum" Or "another factless sensational spectacle pandering to the far left that's only going to get trump reelected" forum.
But let's hear them out they might have a good idea in there somewhere.
Its going on in Las Vegas now but none of the net works or c span appear to be covering it.

Candidate positions on gun control (or gun rights for Trump) - https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/20...itions-trump-democratic-presidential-n1060231

For Booker, Domestic violence victim spoke to "Raise my voice" (BTW she is Ruth Glenn, a domestic violence survivor and the president and CEO of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence) - Asked Booker what he would do to protect domestic violence victims. Booker responded by plan to close "boyfriend loophole" and expand VISA for illegal alien domestic violence victims. No mention of expanding gun rights for domestic violence victims. :cuss::fire:

For Warren, 18 year old activist asked since 40,000 people are killed every year, how she will reduce the deaths. Warren responded she will declare national public health emergency, require mandatory 7 day waiting period to reduce suicides.

Donald Trump:
  • Called for arming educators to prevent school shootings
  • Opposes a ban on assault weapons or high-capacity magazines.
  • Instituted a rule banning bump stocks that can speed up rates of fire,
  • Encouraged states to pass “red flag” laws
  • Threatened to veto bills expanding background checks
  • Twitted Democrats will be unable to pass any meaningful gun control bill under current political climate

Elizabeth Warren:
  • "We gotta break the gun lobby"
  • Want to investigate the NRA and will appoint AG to investigate pro gun organizations - "I am all in"
  • Limit gun purchase to one a month (Really? That's stiff quota us Californians are barely able to meet ... :D I am like 5 purchases for this year ... need to buy more to meet the quota of 12)
  • "Supreme Court said we can restrict sale of guns" Even interviewer asked for clarification saying, "Are you sure?"
  • Limit bulk purchases of firearms
  • Ban assault weapons while requiring existing owners to register their weapons in order to keep them
  • Want "weapons of war" off the streets
  • Availability of guns cause suicide
  • Guns cause domestic violence (Really?)
  • Raise excise taxes on ammunition to 30 percent

Julián Castro:
  • Support voluntary gun buyback
  • Does not support mandatory gun buyback (For now)
  • Double excise taxes to 20 percent and putting the money toward violence prevention programs.
  • Ban high-capacity magazines more than 10 rounds
  • Make ammunition easier to trace.
  • When asked whether he wants to make ammunition more expensive, Castro was straightforward: “I do,”
  • Support a federal "red flag" law, which would allow people to petition courts to remove guns from individuals they fear are a danger to themselves or others.
  • Better funding mental health counseling in schools

Pete Buttigieg:
  • Skeptical on gun buybacks for assault weapons, saying that voluntary buyback programs for firearms “had mixed results” when tried in states and cities
  • Mandatory buyback issue could distract from policies where Democrats are better positioned to make progress.
  • Government must ensure there are fewer guns on the street
  • Change societal expectations for youth of color, and improve the relationship between urban minority communities and the police.
  • On that second point, Buttigieg said society must change the "signals" being sent toward urban youth, which he said places the expectation that they are more likely "to wind up in the criminal justice system" than earn a college degree.

Beto O’Rourke
  • Proposal to ban assault weapons
  • Called for a mandatory buyback of existing assault weapons

Cory Booker:
  • Supports voluntary buyback program and alternative ways to deal with existing assault weapons, like requiring them to be registered with the government.
  • Federal gun licensing program
  • Require individuals to take a safety course, sit for an interview, and undergo a background check before being allowed to buy firearms.
  • Create a federal licensing program that requires prospective purchasers to get fingerprinted, undergo a background check and participate in safety training.

Bernie Sanders:
  • Expand background checks
  • Ban assault weapons
  • Require existing assault weapons to be licensed with the government

Joe Biden:
  • Plan to expand background checks
  • Ban assault weapons
  • Register existing assault weapons
  • Supports voluntary buyback program
  • Invest in urban violence prevention programs
  • Encourage research of “smart guns” that only fire when held by their owner

Kamala Harris:
  • Will give Congress 100 days to pass gun legislation before taking executive action to expand background checks and ban imported assault weapons

Looks like instead of having all 9 of them argue and try to out left each other they all get 30 minutes on the soap box, which will last at least 5 hours.

Found some text only coversge.
Looks like Buttigieg says he will spend a billion dollars to fight on line extremism.
Translation: spend money and do nothing to make people safer. Create online gestapo or thought police to infringe on 1st ammendment.
Francis is still calling for mandated buy backs aka confiscation.
Quid pro Joe is calling for mandatory registration for "assault weapons" which probably means dam near everything.
NBC has a school shooting tracker to streamline the exploitation of children killed in school shootings.

Spartacus calling for mandatory gun by backs, says "it's worked in other places" doesn't provide examples.
Says he will take the fight to the gun lobby, gets applaus, gives no details.
Appears to lump gun owners in with wife beaters, Transgender assaulters, police who shoot unarmed black people.
Expand the prohibited persons list, on what possibly amounts to hearsay.
Exploits victims, places blame on people who don't do anything for allowing gun violence to happen. Conveniently doesn't mention people who pull the trigger when assigning blame.

You know, some of this sounds incredibly outrageous to me but I grew up supposing certain aspects of this American life were more or less sacrosanct. As the years roll by, I see more and more of what I considered inviolable trashed beyond belief so Democrats talking about raising excise taxes and making ammunition more traceable somehow does not surprise me. I am laughing at them for thinking they could make ammunition easier to trace but hey.....those people scare me.

Now they are taking a break, next up chief spreading bull.
Capping all firearms purchases to 1 per month.
Black communities have a lack of gun safety. Nothing about gangs, criminals, drugs, it's just a lack of gun safety.
Reduce gun deaths just like we reduced motoring deaths with the creation of ntsb.
Wants to "fund research into what works".
Well assault weapons bans have been proven not to work.
"Fund or mandate smart guns", didn't see the whole segment but focus on stuff that has never worked.
She says the "NRA is part of the problem", not crimals, not gangs.
The NRA and the gun lobby are the problem.
God her voice is annoying, I don't know if I can listen to her for 30 minutes.
Gun dealers break the law and need to be dealt with, makes it seem like gun dealers break the law more than drug dealers and gangs.
Says a 7 day waiting period will decrease suicide by 7% to 11%, assuming the person won't try to kill them selves any other way.
We should have a national gun safety program, wholly sh1t isn't that what the NRA is?
Claims "the NRA makes big money off gun sales", when did the nra start manufacturing firearms?

She is an idiot. Says she will focus on what works then 30 seconds later says she is going to concentrate on things that have been proven not to work or have never worked.

I wonder if they realize they are actually helping us better support gun rights and the Second Amendment by doing this and maintaining their rhetoric on gun ban/confiscation? :D

BTW, record setting small donations and totaling over $125 million SO FAR - https://www.vox.com/policy-and-poli...ump-reelection-fundraising-25-million-one-day

I do believe gun owners and supporters of gun rights/2A are speaking with their wallets loud and clear.:thumbup::thumbup:

I don't believe any one has been able to run on an anti gun platform and win since shortly after Kennedy was assassinated.

Beto
"Absolutely" stands by what he said, wants to take your semi auto guns. Pistols too apparently.
Appeared to attempt to define "assault weapons" in the most bazaar, sensational, fact less manor I have ever witnessed.
Something about guns designed for militaries to kill as many people as possible on the battle field. No attempt to actually define or limit the definition. His definition would seem to only cover things like crew serviced weapons systems such as a mk19.
Says the gun industry, nra "purchased immunity" as if they're the ones pulling the trigger.
Now he is all about some inner city Muslim anti violence thing. When I see Muslim + anti violence my bs detector is maxing out.
Compares the second ammendment to reloading a musket, which takes 3 minutes....
Says 80% of Hispanics in Texas fear being shot in a hate driven mass shooting.
Compares crisis actor anti gun activists to young people who stormed the beaches at Normandy and who risked their safety to back anti segregation movement.

Next up Amy what's her name, no one cares.
Don't even think she is worth watching.
Starts off by blaming trump.
Insinuates that 1000 girl friends are killed by domestic abuser BFs using assault weapons per year.
Doesn't care if universal background checks won't protect anyone. It's the right thing to do.
Thinks universal background checks will save the most lives.
Thinks people can "just buy a gun off the internet".
Blames trump for hate.
"Ban assault weapons is smartest way to stop mass shootings"
Says "buy back programs work", provides no examples.
Exploits children killed in school shootings.
thinks sweeping legislation doesn't need to involve congress.

Yang.
Thinks that universal basic income (aka buying votes) will stop school shootings.
Thinks everyone is suicidal or mentally unstable.
It's the gun lobbys fault that we don't treat gun violence as national health crisis.
Says people should drown out lobbyists money, so his solution is to donate money to the government.
Money.
Money.
Money.
This guy only cares about money, he is obviously for sale.
Crisis actor claims Vegas shooter bought 10 guns at a time.
Yang claims 3% own half the guns.
Thinks government should confiscate and destroy guns when the owner of a large gun collection dies.
Give black people free money, I guess because they're black, how is that not racist?
Thinks paying people to stay out of jail is a good idea.
They only let him have 20 minutes.

The "formally black" Kamala harris.
Starts out blaming trump and the nra.
Poverty is a disorder and it's everyone's fault.
Give minorities free money for home ownership, think subprime mortgage bubble 2.0
Appears to blame "assault weapons" for dispositional share of gun injuries.
Plans to use executive actions a lot to "do something right now".
Second amendment is hunting, does not protect weapons that belong on the battle field. Makes it sound like assault weapons are predominantly used in street violence.
Supports mandatory buy back confiscation.
Says there are 5 million "assault weapons" in circulation.
She can talk a lot with out actually saying anything, I'm impressed.
Says that she is once again black.
Legalize reefer. Which is ironic as she has bragged about how many people she put away for it.

Sooooooo .....
  1. NO talk of crime that happens in every city/town in this country.
  2. NO talk of MS-13/gangs that permeates all across this country
  3. NO talk of rape that happens daily in this country
  4. NO talk of robbery that happens everywhere in this country whether city, urban/suburban, rural areas.
  5. NO talk of protecting/defending the law abiding victims of crime.
I figure more donations coming to Trump tonight to set another record after yesterday's record breaking $25 million small donations in 24 hours.

I watched everyone but buttgig and quid pro Joe and I would say that assessment is accurate.
The black again kamala Harris did talk about "support" for victims of gun violence and helping women escape domestic violence.
Her idea of support doesn't really sound like protection and defense, I get more of an exploitation vibe due to the the overly specific nature of her ideal victim.
Unless you are a special interest victim (domestic violence survivor, mass shooting survivor, inner city minority gun violence survivor) you know some one they can put in front of a camer and exploit, they don't care about you.
