I had GI 1911A1s back in the 70s. Colt, Remington Rand & Ithaca Gun co. They had the correct markings.
I paid $90 for the one i turned into a Bullseye pistol. Later i sold it to a guy that was going to restore it to its original condition. Not an easy task, as it had many modifications.
The 1911A1 Colt was a trade-in on a New 70s Gold Cup. New GCs then were $276.
The GI issue guns were perfect for close range combat. Not for Bullseye Pistol shooting.
1979 photos, info.
