6 shots slow fire. 3 inch circle, 7 yards.

I loaded some +p with 6 grains.. shoots about 4 inches high at the same range! That's some recoil. No stuck cases or flattened primers but as it got dirty (after 50 rounds of standard pressure) the cases required a mild smack on the ejector rod.

A 4" change of impact with just another 0.5 grains of powder? Wow!

I should ask; is this the new all steel Colt Cobra, or an old alloy frame gun?

Thanks.

I felt the new Cobra, the black .38 special one with the wide grips. Felt very good.. I'd shoot very well with that thing.
Funny story: While holding it, I said 'Colts have always been the finest double action revolvers I've ever shot'
guy behind the counter must've misheard me, because first thing he says 'Oh, Colt's don't suck'. It was confusing. I'd never say such a blasted thing against Colts. Guess my voice was so quiet at awe of the Cobra.

Colt really does make a nice gun again these days. I've handled the Cobra at my local shop quite a few times and eventually I just might make the plunge. Thing is, I'd rather wait for their full size models, but if they don't hurry up I might wind up with a pair.

Nice shooting! I hope you quite enjoy that revolver.

I have a 1977 Colt Cobra. And a S&W 638.
Shoot #358477 over 3.5grs of Bullseye. Even with Pachmyars I shoot the Colt far better the S&W.

I moved up to 5 and fired 12 about as fast as I could. I put the high shot up with first shot of cylinder 2. Very controllable with these lighter loads, and even when amping it up to +P the gun is a lot easier to shoot than the S&W J frames I have.

Stay safe.

I've been shooting and collecting D frame Colts for a long time. I have been very impressed with the new cobra. The overall balance trigger and handling are outstanding. As far as I'm concerned this new gun is a winner. I've fired a bit less than 1000 rounds through mine and love it.
