humm seems like a good price here locally i would refinish the stock on it anyway and how many rounds can you shoot a bolt atcion 22lr to wear out the barrel anyway should be good, otheres goes for a 180$ on the web i see
free floating barrel?

Mine has a squirrel on the pistol grip. It's pretty worn from all the handling over the years.

The sear on mine is polished from thousands of trigger pulls. It's very smooth and light. I have no idea how many rounds have been put through it, but it has seen heavy use over the years.

They're good shooting guns. I had one and for some reason sold it. And no it doesn't need a free floating barrel. It will make no difference on a 22. And those actions are held to the stock with one screw in the bottom IIRC. So if you sand out the channel the action will rock in the wood stock. I know because I have already made that mistake and had to go back and glass bed the barrel channel.

well thats some good :eek:info to know for sure

It's a shooter like it is. Mine will shoot into a ragged hole at 75 yards. That long barrel needs some support.

The second firearm I ever bought was a Marlin Model 15 (the single-shot version of the 25) in 1986... still shoots as good as the day I bought it. It is sensitive to action screw torque... loose is bad, as is too tight.

Cheers from a fellow (retired) long-haul driver... :D

Guy gave me a Glenfield 550 semi. Would fire 2 rounds then hang up on third. Took it apart. Polished the loading paws and gave it a good clean n lube. Shoots perfect. Very accurate.

Kinda of a coincidence, threw one firearm into the car today to take tot he outdoor range. My Marlin JC Higgins MDL 80 which was the first gun I owned, given to me by my Dad at Christmas around 1964. Still a lovely shooter. Only now sports a Nikon scope. Did not mess with targets, just had some fun tearing up shotgun shards on he 50 yd berm. On all the guns I own, it is the one gun I will never get rid of. Thanks Dad.

My first firearm, purchased by my dad for my 16th birthday in 1976. Not much of a surprise, as I had been dropping not-so-subtle hints about the Glenfield for several days beforehand, culminated by leaving a clipped K-Mart newspaper ad under his wallet on his bedside nightstand.

I still shoot it a couple times a year. I shortened the barrel and replaced the sights years ago, after damaging the muzzle, and about ten years ago I refurbed it more completely with a synthetic stock and new scope/mount combo. Also bought an extra mag, as the original's spring was a bit tired. This box magazine design will feed .22 Shorts as well as Longs and LR.
