Linted Glock

It's called Glock flock. Only found on the guns of owners who unbox, actually lubricate their guns, then stash them on the high shelf in the closet and forget about them. Also known as navel models. :neener:

They dont get dust bunnies like that just sitting around in a closet or under a bed. Somebody was actually using that one on a regular basis.

"My brother in law carrys his glock 36 in his pocket all year long and when we went shooting last, he pulled it from his pocket in pretty much exactly this condition or worse."

And....?

Ah, a new malfunction acronym.

Failure To Return To Battery Do To Absurd Lint Accumulation. A FTRTBDTALA malfunction.

This of course requires tap, rack, roll, then get out your can of compressed air to blow crap out of gun, failure drills.

I carry my can of compressed air weak side OWB in a custom kydex “Can-o-Air” holster from Don’t Clean Your Gun Custom Holsters.

Sorry, I can’t find the link to their website.

I wonder if one of those would burst into flames if you fired it.

Honestly, I cannot see how a gun could get like that unless it was hidden in a clothes dryer duct with no magazine inserted.

my pistol gets pretty linty after a while, but geez thats bad!
Looks like it got carried a lot, but never ever fired.

my 1300 under the bed doesnt even get that bad. and then, its only on the outside

My glock gets pretty bad after a month of carry. When i rack the slide to unload to clean. All kinds of lint, dust and debris comes out. I take it open carry on a quad, open carry while hunting/hicking and CCW carry every where else. It gets rather dusty between cleanings. Even had wood chips from a chainsaw in it. But i have shot mine like that at random varmints. And it always shot, tho the dust cloud is pretty bad.

I forgot about a SW 99 that I stuffed between the cushions of a couch for 6-8 years. When I carried the couch to the curb for our yearly bulk trash day I decided to check for money, knives, remotes, etc. Hey I found a gun! It looked pretty darn close to that there Glock.

Good think you checked!

Lint in a pocket gun makes for a good campfire starter. I've never let a carry gun get that bad but my LCP has gotten pretty linty at times and it's never failed to function properly when I've pulled it out and fired it without any prep. I would bet a larger Glock or M&P type striker pistol would be even less susceptible to lint related malfunctions.

It’s obvious this guy carried this in 100% wool suits for years and never cleaned it. Seriously though I have a friend who pulled out a lcp at the range that he hadn’t cleaned ever and carried as a backup for over a year and it looked almost as bad as this gun and it still fired flawlessly through the one magazine he put through it, surprisingly. He said he wasn’t going to clean it until it failed and wanted to see how dirty it could get and keep functioning.
There’s no doubt in my mind that a Glock could function properly in this neglected condition but my ocd for having a clean gun would never allow me to let any gun I own to get half as bad at this. Guns that look like this are typically a result of two things, either someone intentionally neglecting it or putting it somewhere and forgetting about it.

That's basically it. It didnt choke or anything. Some people are pretty neglectful of their EDC. That's more or less what the OP opened up for discussion. Anything else I can do?

Poor Glock(s). Probably carried in a purse or maybe in his shoe. Will there be before and after pics at sale? Probably not.

It's clean now, of course. Wasn't like it took a pressure washer or anything, it was just a bunch of lint form pocket carry (I'm guessing). A clean nylon brush was all that was really needed.

If you have access to a small air compressor. It will clean lint out in 2 seconds. Almost a must if you CCW every day.

Oh! might want to turn the pressure down a bit if you can. I use 120 psi and it has not blown anything out yet, tho i do use a huge hand held air gun and barely apply pressure to the handle so it does not unload the whole tank at once.
