It's marked Pietta on the barrel and the box is all Pietta.

I like your gun. It made me look at the Pietta site and they make a bunch of different guns but I could not find your particular model. And like a few others I don't want the rotating firing pin. I like the fixed model like yours. I like that the dimensions are correct also. See if you can find out what model or version you have. I may need a new gun.

I did something similar with my Armi San Marco, EMF Hartford Model, U.S. Cavalry SAA. Was a bit of a snug fit but it worked out just fine.
That's the exact same ASM model on which I replaced the "Swiss safety" base pin with an Uberti base pin. Worked perfectly.

I also replaced the original ASM cartouche grip with an Uberti cartouche grip. The ASM grip was very badly fitted. The replacement Uberti grip was a much better fit, although still not perfect. (The ASM grip has a embossed "APC" cartouche, while the Uberti grip has a laser-cut "OWA" cartouche. Obviously the embossed cartouche would be more authentic, but the fit is paramount.)

I found it annoying and replaced it with a Colt pin.

It is a bit, and I intend to replace it as well. You need to rotate the pin into a position with the notches down, in order to latch it.
Ruger uses notches on the Blackhawk cylinder pins, but the head of the cylinder pin is oversized and contoured to the barrel to prevent rotation.

The Italians make good stuff.

It's a wonder given their taxes, labor laws, union strength, and bureaucracy that they can make high quality firearms at reasonable prices but that none of the great old names in American firearms can.

It's almost as if those things aren't nearly as bad as BS right-wing media make them out to be. This is the last place I should be getting political, but the alignment of most 2A supporters with the right-wing politicians that hold this country back, is going to be the death of the 2nd Amendment. Support the 2nd amendment, but don't support blatant bigots and con-men that want to bleed our great nation dry because they support your 2A rights. It makes us look like "the bad guys."

Nice drive by. You vote your conscience I'll vote mine.

I have a Traditions in 44 mag.
And 2 Ubertis all 3 of them handle very nicely

I was sceptical of the Traditions/Pietta. But turned out just fine

i hope uberti gets rid of the floating firing pin design.the one i have was unreliable, so i talked to taylor imports. he said put a shim in the slot for the firing pin to keep the firing pin forward. i did that and now it is reliable. however no safety on it but the old real colts didnt have a safety either. glad pietta is improving their quality.

Howdy

I wouldn't hold my breath. Uberti obviously put a lot of engineering time into adding the retractable firing pin. I doubt if they will reintroduce the standard fixed firing pin.

Old Stumpy: Very nice looking piece.

Am I being too much of a schoolmarm if I mention that Single Action Army, as well as the initials SAA, are trademarks held by Colt?

Old Stumpy

Didn't even notice the color case hardened trigger the first time around; had to go back and check it out! All of my single actions have blued triggers. Kind of like the look of the trigger on your new Pietta!

Interesting that the trigger is case colored. I've also not seen a Pietta with factory black plastic grips. Maybe it's had some custom work done to it. I like it.
