Lever Action "AR" - aka Red Ryd AR

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, but this looks like a fantastical manually operated "AR".

It's like it's from an alternative universe or something. Kinda cool with the old school wood and lever morphed into it. Looks like a fun creation.

No need for a gas tube, shouldn't need buffer tube either since the lever action mechanism cycles the bolt.

The gentleman who posted the whole development of that over at arfdotcom is a mechanical genius, making it a functional lever action AR. The lever operates the charging handle.

I would think it’s awfully hard to get down on those sights. They sure do look low with such little stock drop. They could work, but I love old Winchester’s too much to find out.

My buddy sent me a picture of this earlier in the week and we immediately started sending him back pictures of Planet of the Apes guns....however after watching the video, that is one cool design! I can't wait to learn more.

BrickWurX is also responsible for designing many of the custom AR15 lowers that PSA has been selling for the past year or so. IIRC, the Christmas Story lower Red Ryd-AR is based on is one of his designs.

Thanks for the link! It's good to see the creator's photos and comments directly.

I'm guessing the rear of the lever has a link that goes up into the butt stock and uses a hidden mechanism to move the bolt carrier fore and aft? Maybe we'll get to see the guts of it someday.

That's pretty much where my mind went.

If I wanted a lever-action with a rotary bolt, I'd just get a Browning BLR. I don't understand this fascination with modifying AR's to everything they aren't. If we are just talking a theoretical or mechanical exercise... kind of like a concept car, etc... I guess.

Uhhhh....my mind really doesn't know how to wrap around this concept yet.
