How is h322 with that bullet? I have 1/2lbs left of it for 223rem.
Quite well, I dont have access to my liad data right now, but I do know that I can get 2" groups at 100yds with a couple of them with my 4x scope.

The Remington bullets fly pretty similarly to the xtps, but they dont hold together as well on impact. So, I use the remingtons more when practicing

I am shooting a Marlin 1895 22'' barrel with 300hr Hornady HP and IMR 4198. I like the accuracy of 4198 but it needs higher charges for accuracy and kicks the snot out of me. Is it possible there is another powder that will get me 1900fps with less recoil?

As others have said, you're dealing with one of the laws of nature and the nature of the beast. Less velocity, lighter bullet or a different platform.

Blue Dot or Unique to get to 1100fps with a Missouri cast 405 Hytek. Have seen it on a Texas Heart shot plow clear thru a buck stern to stem, or visa-versa. Little recoil at all. I've never recovered a cast 405 to see if they
ever expand. Already .459, anyone really care?

The very first thing i did after buying a Marlin Guide gun was to invest in a quality recoil pad. It made a huge difference. Am guessing 1900 fps from from a 22 inch barrel may equal the factory 300 gn hunting loads, which are relatively mild. Am not sure what velocity the factory 300 gr hps are desighned for, but some manuals may give indication. As others mentioned maybe try a trapdoor level cast load, and depend on bullet weight.

I use IMR4895 and AA5744 on my 1895G. Mostly because that's what I have. Both work well. Recoil is a relative term. The faster loads can certainly give your chin a hefty smack.
