Just wanted to see if anyone here had any experience with these. Local shop has them. They look neat, feel great holding on to one. Any opinions on them?

Thanks.

I've spent a little bit of time with one, loved it. Either an L9, or L40 with a 357SIG barrel are somewhere in my future. Highly, nay, criminally underrated pistol. Then again, given how much effort Steyr puts into advertising its not that much of a shock.

I got one about a year ago in 9mm. Like it a lot. The trigger is incredible. Wish it had more of a audible reset.

i do not like the new ones, not a fan of the way they look now

I have a couple; I very much like the pistol. My only gripe is the sights; some folk love them but I do not. There isn't much in the way of support in the aftermarket for replacement sights and holsters and such, which is a shame.

I don’t dislike the sights but I prefer night sights on carry guns. Tru glo makes night sights that fit. I believe that three dots sights are an option on new Steyrs now.

I love mine in 9mm and .40 S&W. I also have an L9, great trigger and the grip is perfect for my hand. I do replace the trapezoid sight with conventional pistol sights. My oldest son has one and like the original sites.

I've had this L9A1 for a little over a year and have probably 500 rounds through it so far.

The only issue I have had is that my thumb is in exactly the wrong spot for the slide release and I tend to get a failure to lock back for this reason. If I adjust my grip, no issue.

The sights make the gun for me, personally. It's a much more fine pointed front sight than most and the point of impact for my gun with 147gr ammo ends up being just above the tip of the front triangle which is perfect.

I know someone who has one. It is for someone who likes something different, for sure.
I'm not knocking it, but I would research:

Extra magazine cost / availability
Night sight availability
Holster selection

...before you purchase the handgun. So that you know the total cost involved.

L9-A1 with Trijicon Night Sights. I don't shoot it much these days but I like it. Carries well in an Uncle Mikes holster. Extra Mags can sometimes be found for a good price on the Steyr forum. Federal 147 HST or Ranger 127 +P+ work well.

I have an older M9 and it's been a very reliable pistol. At the time I got it there was next to nothing in the way of Steyr factory support. The fact that I had to go through 3 or 4 different importers before I could find someone who would send me my spare mag should tell you something. Love the sights and the ergos of the grip frame. Trigger is okay; better than my Glock but not as good as my Ruger SR9c. Do not like the location of the manual safety inside of the trigger guard.

I had a guy at a local gun show make a Kydex holster for my M9. Saw him there on Saturday and brought my gun back on Sunday. Took him about an hour to get it molded and put together. Mags haven't been a problem though I would like to get a couple more 15 rounders for it (it originally came with 10 round mags). Definitely prefers 124 gr. and 147 gr. ammo; not so much so with the 115 gr. stuff.

The A1 series has a much improved trigger over the originals.

I bought a C9-A1 (compact model) when my LGS had one for cheap. Whatever combination of grip, sights, trigger, or whatever, I outshot everything else I own with it on the first range trip. I went right out and ordered an S9-A1 to carry.

The sights are love them or hate them. I love them. Knowing my POA is right at the point of the triangle front sight makes it feel much more precise to me.

The trigger is probably the best of the striker-fired guns, with the possible exception of the Walther PPQ. The sights are what they are...I bought mine secondhand with tritium sights, which I like.

I have two Steyrs and a PPQ. The Steyr trigger has just a little creep before the break and a less audible reset than the PPQ. Both are excellent striker triggers.
