"The Morphy Auctions sale of Extraordinary, Sporting & Collector Firearms takes place in Denver, Pennsylvania on October 22-23"

Darn...missed the boat.

"Final prices include buyers premium: $492,000.00
Estimate: $100,000 - $300,000
Number Bids: 39"

From the Morphy Auction site link:

"Simpson’s grandson was Ulysses S. Grant, the Civil War hero and 18th President of the United States; and his great-grandson was Meriwether Lewis, who explored the Western territories of the country as part of the famous Lewis and Clark Expedition."

Methinks someone at Morphy's either can't do math and/or has no education in American History.

Yeah, I thought that part made no sense at all.

I notice Lewis was born in 1774... wrong time frame, on average, to have been a great-grandson of a man who was fighting age during the period of 1775-81.

Not to get too far off track, but I had a co-worker who became a grandfather when he was 30 years old.
Getting married in the early teens wasn't exactly uncommon back then so push the envelope and make him a Great Grandfather at 40 and he could still be fighting I suppose.
I'm guessing that's not what happened though, and it doesn't seem likely at all.
