Ruger Carbine

I guess I`m one of the "unlucky" ones who has problems with their Ruger PCC. I`ll usually get about 2-3 jams per range outing (100-150 rounds). I`m hoping that Ruger will come out with an updated extractor since the current one only has a "nub" to grab onto the rim of the cartridge. All other extractors on any other weapon I have, have an edge to the extractor that grabs the empty case and literally yanks it out. Not so the PCC. It doesn`t matter whether it`s spotlessly clean or somewhat dirty either. I`ve thought about sending it back to Ruger but just recently got an LCP back from them and am just taking a break.

Give them a call or shoot them a email. They might send you a extractor free of charge. No need to mail it in.

Plus one on the Andro Corp flash hider. Well made and shipped fast even with the cheapest shipping method. Adds a bit of tacticool to the PC while still allowing everyone to maintain their dignity.

Just because we're on the Internet, I feel a need to mention that extractor does nothing in a blowback gun like Ruger PCC. In fact, there were blowback automatic pistols, such as Bergmans, which did not have extractors at all. Why would you add the cost, right? But it turned out that users prefer not to open the action and shake the unfired round out when they decide to unload, so Bergman added the extractor later.

That said, a bad extractor absolutely is capable of causing jams.

I bought the MI AR adjustable butt stock style chassis from Midway USA($179.99 plus shipping)and it arrived today, the MI M-Lok fore stock from Brownells($150.00 Shipped)arrived last Monday. I bought the Ruger PCC-9 from PSA back in early March for $449.00 delivered to my FFL. I am really liking mine and it will be very popular at the range, it could be a decent HD carbine with the right training I suppose. BTW swapping out stocks and adding pistol grip is so easy I did it the proper way the first time. https://photos.imageevent.com/10mmgary/gunnum//PCC_9.jpg

My PC Carbine came back from warranty work today, hopefully all fixed up. It looks like they replaced the bolt and bolt head pins, which I expected from my internet research on what was done to PC Carbines with similar problems.

I was surprised to see that they said barrel block screws were missing or loose. The barrel block is #46 and the screws are #86 in the diagram below. I didn't mess with those screws, and only had the receiver out of the stock a few times. If the side screws were missing, they were either missing from the factory, or perhaps just loose enough from the factory that they they fell out when I disassembled the rifle for cleaning, although I think it's unlikely that I wouldn't have noticed in the latter case.

Anyway, if your PC Carbine is stovepiping, it might be worth checking to make sure the barrel block screws aren't missing, I'm guessing the bolt replacement was the real fix though.

Probably won't get it to the range until after hunting season, but I'm hopeful that this carbine will be reliable from here on out. Next step is to mount a 3 lug muzzle device so I can just pop my Obsidian on and off.

I've got one I bought last year from a guy "used". Appeared unfired, but I fixed that. He had fallen on hard times, and wanted $450. I hemmed and hawed a bit, and he asked if I'd give him $350.....yah. Yah, I'd do that......
Running the SR-9 mags in it, since I like to mate it with the SR9-c I use as a truck pistol occasionally.

I bought mine, it shot fine, let a friend shoot it...

He bought one, shot one, and let his friend shoot his...

His friend bought one, shot one....

Mine is set up for Glock mags, I have thirteen G-17 mags, six G-19 mags and four of the 33 rounders as well. All three of us love these things, they're fun little 10-22's on steroids.

Stay safe.

I'm wrestling with getting the Ruger or PSA AR9. Rugers are plenty available from Bud's at a great price, but I still like the parts interchangeability the PSA has with ARs. I'm looking at this one: gun psa 9mm carbine.jpg

Anyone have one of these? Reviews are good, if few and far apart.

Had one. Great rifle. Sold it to get this one;

much more fun to shoot. I was torn between this one and the Ruger.
