I don't even know how to react to some events in new America ...if you do, let's have it.
I live in Arizona, foothills of the valley. Yesterday morning I was helping a buddy with a Pontiac he had shipped from the east, an old family car with a 389 and twitchy three deuce setup. The car had been sitting so we did the usual over a week, then finally went to start -- BANG BANG BOOM! Friggin hilarious, and it didn't help we had removed the exhausts. Twenty minutes later, a cop car blocks the drive and two officers approach. "Sorry to bother you, anyone been shooting here?" That was so unexpected we drew a blank, didn't connect backfire with "SHOTS FIRED."
That was morning. The two ended their shift before sunset and returned for a beer as invited, the older officer had served with the corps for six years and had spotted a Marine Division Banner on the wall of the garage, hence we got the full story. Hearing several backfires, a neighbor had called 911, and as part of a routine call, they had to speak to this clown. Did she see a gun? No, but she certainly knew what one sounded like. Keep in mind this is Arizona. The neighbor is a new arrival from California. It ended well because we made some new friends who love what's left of real America, but like the younger patrolman said, wonder why they come here?
I didn't react in terms of a response, would anyone?
